Bio:

HI, my name is Simon Finkelstein, and I’m the proud coach of the Weehawken High School girls and boys tennis teams.

As an avid tennis player, I decided to go to school and learn how to teach both children and adults the art and fun of playing tennis. I began my tennis teaching career almost 30 years ago in the Pocono Mountains. For the last 10 years I have taught hundreds of students here under the Weehawken Recreation Tennis programs for adults as well as summer camps for all of Weehawken’s next generation of high school players. During my many years of playing tennis I have competed in tennis tournaments at many different venues, including mixed doubles tournaments with my wife around the country.

We moved to Weehawken 20 years ago, living before on West 74th Street in NYC for quite some time. As a younger guy I was the road manager for many rock groups - just to name a few - Black Sabbath w/Ozzy Ozbourne as well as the original production of Jesus Christ Superstar for an extensive tour.

I am now devoted to teaching tennis here in Weehawken to our high school students and our very successful recreation programs.

It was an honor to be selected this year, by my peers and NJ Athletics, to be coach of the year in the all-league girls Division 1, 2020 season.
