1 - Abderrahmane Bendali, France.

Abderrahmane BENDALI is Professor Emeritus at the National Institute of Applied Sciences and University of Toulouse, member of the Mathematical Institute of Toulouse and and Scientific Consultant at CERFACS Toulouse, in Computational Electromagnetism. He was  Assistant Professor at University of Algiers (1970-1979) and Appointed Researcher at the  Center of Applied Mathematics, Ecole Polytechnique, France (1979-1984) and University of Pau (1990-1995).

Research topics : Integral equations for acoustic and electromagnetic waves. Finite Element Methods. High-order radiation conditions. Multi-scale problems. Domain decomposition methods.

2 - Afif Masmoudi, Tunisia.

Afif Masmoudi is graduated from Sfax University. He also got a Ph.D. (Mathematics) from the University of Sfax in 2000, about the asymptotic properties of a variance function on the means boundary. Since 2011, he is a full professor at Faculty of Science of Sfax, teaching from basic statistics and probability. He has been working more intensively on exponential families and Bayesian estimation and application. He is a member of Laboratory of Statistics and Probability of Sfax. 

Research topics : Statistical inference; Statistical modelling; Exponential families; Distribution theory; Estimating functions; Stochastic processes; Generalized linear mixed models, probabilistic graphical models, Data Mining, Big Data and Bayesian Network.

3 - Sébastien Tordeux, France.

 is assistant Professor at Pau University and member of  Makutu ( https://team.inria.fr/makutu/ ) a joint Team between INRIA, Pau University, CNRS and Total. He defended his PhD in 2004 under the supervision of Patrick Joly at INRIA-Paris. He worked as postdoctoral fellow at ETH Zurich with Ralf Hiptmair (2005-2006). He was then recruited as assistant Professor at INSA-Toulouse (2005-2010). His main coauthors are Abderrahmane Bendali and Hélène Barucq.   

4 - Sadok Kallel, United Arab Emirates.

Sadok Kallel is professor of mathematics at the American University of Sharjah and researcher member of the Painlevé laboratory at the University of Lille. Graduated from Stanford University, Sadok Kallel specializes in applications of algebraic topology to geometry in the broad sense.

He has worked in Canada, France and today in the UAE. Its scientific relations with Tunisia remain very strong, he is a founding member of MIMS (Mediterranean Institute for the Mathematical Sciences) in Tunis, and the GJM (Graduate Journal of Mathematics).

5 - Frédéric Hecht, France.

Frederic Hecht is Emeritus Professor Sorbonne Universty.

He was a Senior Researcher at INRIA from 1981 to 1999 and Professor at University Pierre et Marie curie from 1999 to 2018. From 2009 to 2018 he was  adjoint Director of " Fédération de Recherche en Mathématiques de Paris Centre.

The Research topics of Frederic Hecht are related to numerical methods to solve Physics (fluid mechanics, electromagnetism, quantum mechanics), engineering, graphics and finance problems.

The guidance of his research is the automation of solving partial differential equations by the finite element method.

Research topics:

1-Language for numerical solution of partial differential equations by the finite element method, C + + (FreeFem++).

2- Domain decomposition method.

3- The study the anisotropic 3D mesh, 3D mesh adaptation, search for error estimation finite element other than P1.

4- Multi physics, porous medium, Interaction fluid / structure.

Frederic Hecht received several prestigious prices :

1)    First prize in 1989 contest IBM intensive numerical computing for  automatic generation of three-dimensional mesh for finite element method.

2)    French Academy of Sciences Prices of FONDATION D’ENTREPRISE EADS (Sciences et Ingénierie) in 2013.

3)    Bull Joseph Fourier 2015 Price, with V. Dolean, P. Jolivet, F. Nataf, and P.H. Tournier.

7 - Youssef Boudabbous,  La Réunion (France).

Youssef Boudabbous is Professor at University  de  La Reunion,  Laboratory of Informatic and Mathematics. 

In 1992 Boudabbous gots his Master degree in pure mathematics from Claude Bernard University (Lyon I), France. In 1994 he obtained his Phd Degree from the University of Savoie (Chambéry), France under the supervision of Professor  G. Lopez. In 2000 he obtained his universitary habilitation from the University of Sfax, Tunisia. 

From 1994 to 1995 he was temporary attached for teaching and research during 6 months and contractual assistant during 6 months, at Savoie University (France) 

1995 to 1996 : contractual assistant at the University of Sfax, Tunisia. 

1996  to   2000 : assistant professor at the University of  Sfax, Tunisia. 

2000   to   2001: associate professor at the University of Sfax, Tunisia. 

2001   to   2003: assistant professor at at the Al-Jouf Technical College in Saudi Arabia, (Saudi Arabia).

2003   to  2005: associate professor at the University of Sfax, Tunisia. 

2005 to   2010: professor at the University  of Sfax, Tunisia.

From  December  2010 to February  2020 he was professor at  King Saud  University, (Saudi Arabia) and from March  2020 up today he is  associate professor at  University of  Réunion, France..

8 - Zakaria BelHachmi (France).

Zakaria Belhachmi is a Full Professor at UHA, the university of Mulhouse, Mathematics department, IRIMAS.

Research topics: PDEs, numerical analysis of PDEs, Inverse problems, Shape optimisation and control theory.

9 - Nicolas Boutin (France).

Nicolas Broutin: Professor Broutin is graduated in Computer Science from École Polytechnique (Paris) in 2001. He then attended ENST Bretagne where he got a MSc in Mathematics and Cognitive Sciences (Cognitive Sciences Lab). He got a PhD in 2007 from McGill  under the supervision of Luc Devroye. Between september 2007 and 2012, he have been a member of the Algorithms group and then the RAP team at Inria in Paris.

After ten years at Inria, he moved in September 2017 to Université Pierre et Marie Curie - Paris 6, which merged with La Sorbonne to become Sorbonne Université in January 2018. he is now affiliated with the LPSM.

10 - Neeraja Sahasrabudhe (India).

Neeraja Sahasrabudhe : Department of Mathematical Sciences, Indian Institute of Science Education and Research. 

Bio: Dr. Neeraja Sahasrabudhe is currently working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mathematical Sciences of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research Mohali. Prior to joining IISER Mohali, she spent a few years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Indian Statistical Institute and at the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay. She finished her PhD from the University of Padova, Italy. Her research interests are mainly in the areas of random processes with reinforcement. In particular, she works on urn models, consensus on networks, stochastic approximation and preferential attachment random graphs.

12 - Markus Kuba (Austria).

Mini-Bio:

In 2004 Markus Kuba gots his master degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in mathematics, minor computer Science, at the TU Wien.

Afterwards, he was working at the combinatorics groups ,  Institute for Discrete mathematics and Geometry at the TU-WIEN.

In 2006 Markus Kuba completed his PhD studies (Dr.techn.) also at the TU Wien, under the supervision of Prof. Alois Panholzer.

From 2006 to 2009 Kuba was a post-doc.

After four and a half years as a researcher Kuba started in September 2009 his teaching career as a full-time secondary school teacher and a lecturer. He is teaching at universities of applied sciences (FH) and also at a higher college (HTL). In 2010 he gets his official license to teach in HTLs - technology and crafts oriented secondary schools.

In May 2013 he obtained his habilitation at the TU-Wien, faculty of mathematics and geoinformation; thus he was still officially affiliated with the university by means of the venia docendi and he becomes a FH-professor at the FH Technikum Wien in November 2016.

12 - Jordan M. Stoyanov (Bulgaria).

Bio: Jordan Stoyanov is a Honorary Professor at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Professor at Shandong University, (China), and formerly a Professor at Newcastle University (UK). He is a Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics,  the International Statistical Institute, the Bernoulli Society, and the London Mathematical Society. He is Associate Editor in several journals in probability and statistics,  and his interests are in Probability and Stochastic Processes, with Applications. He wrote 5 books, with several editions in different languages, and one of them is the well-known: "Counterexamples in Probability". 

13 - Simon Thomas (France).

Mini-Bio: Thomas Simon is a professor at Lille University. He was an invited professor at several Universities and institutions. His research interest includes convexity properties and analysis of stochastic processes.



14 - Larbi Alili (United Kingdom).

Mini-Bio: Larbi Alili is an associate professor, at the Department of Statistics, University of Warwick, UK. He was an invited professor at several Universities in  France, Germany, Switzerland and UK. His research interest is in Self-similar Markov processes and exponential functionals; Fluctuation theory and exit problems;

Gaussian processes and diffusion processes; Stochastic processes and Finance.

15 - Anita Behme (Germany).

Speaker:   Anita Behme, Technische Universitat Dresden, Germany.


Bio:  Anita Behme earns the Chair of Applied Stochastics at TU Dresden and is full professor there. She was an invited professor at several Universities in Germany and US. Her research interest is in probability theory and stochastic processes.

16 - Farhat Iqbal (saudi Arabia).

Speaker:   Iqbal Farhat, Imam Abdurrahmane Bin Faisal University, Saudi Arabia.


Bio: Farhat Iqbal, is an Associate Professor in the Mathematics department of the College of Science, in Imam Abdulrahman Bin Faisal University (IAU), Saudi Arabia. He joined the IAU in May 2023. He obtained a PhD in Statistics in 2010 at Lancaster University in the United Kingdom. He also obtained a PostDoc position in 2015-2016 in the University of Sheffield, United Kingdom. He has occupied a teaching and research position in the University of Balochistan, Quetta, Pakistan, since 2003, where he is an Associate Professor in Statistics.

17 - Massimiliano Tamborrino (UK).

Speaker:  Massimiliano Tamborrino. University of Warwick (UK).

Bio: Massimiliano Tamborrino is an Associate Professor at the Department of Statistics at the University of Warwick, after being a University Research Assistant at the Institute for Stochastics, JKU Linz (Austria) and having received his PhD in Probability Theory and Statistics at the Department of Mathematical Sciences, University of Copenhagen (Denmark). 

His main interests and expertise lie in the study of stochastic processes (mostly diffusions) from a modelling, numerical and statistical point of view. In particular, he is interested in the interplay between stochastic numerics and statistics, e.g. on the impact that numerical schemes have on simulation-based algorithms applied to problems arising mainly, but not exclusively, in neuroscience, physiology, cognitive psychology and biology. Since 2020, he initiated the One World ABC seminar, a monthly seminar series on approximate Bayesian computation (ABC) and approximate Bayesian inference, which is now at the 4th season.
