Seniors intending to major or minor in the Communicative Arts (theatre, film, radio & television, broadcasting, music, or dance and/or an education major in one of said fields) in college are eligible to audition for college scholarships while in attendance at the Iowa Thespian Festival. Seniors who are also inducted members of Thespian Troupe #1451 are eligible to audition for the Iowa Thespian Scholarship. These auditions will be in front of a large panel of Midwest college representatives; in years past, several of our students have been offered large scholarship packages at the Festival while other students were contacted by the colleges with scholarship offers in the following weeks.
ALL applicants will need to fill out a separate online registration (to be posted later), submit a formal theatre resume, provide reference letters, and submit a headshot (need not be professional).
You will need to prepare two contrasting monologues or a monologue and song.
You will need to prepare a portfolio and presentation displaying your technical skills; additionally, prepare for an interview component.
You will be asked to write an essay; additionally, you may prepare a monologue or a presentation.
View all of the guidelines for scholarship applicants HERE. The extra fee associated with the College Scholarship Auditions will be paid for by the Waukee Thespian Troupe #1451 as a courtesy to our seniors, but please plan to reimburse the $20 fee if you drop the audition.
