All sources of water are important.Â
💡Let us protect our water!
What are some strategies to reduce water pollution?
Here are some ways to mitigate and reduce water pollution:
Protect our forests - they help to store water allowing it to go underground to feed the ground sources.
Protect our Wetlands - they provide habitats for fish animal and plants species and clean the water that flows through them absorbing pollutants.
Farmers can reduce their irrigation of land and so reduce the amount of chemicals going into watercourses.
Never throw items into rivers, ponds or the sea.
Do not leave items or litter on the ground close to water or where it can find its way into rivers or the sea.
Do not bury items on the beach as they can be moved into the sea by animals are wave actions.Â
Make sure sewage is collected and treated properly at large central treatment plants and at local disposal sites such as septic tanks.
Dispose of solid waste in responsible ways.Â
Always put waste in a bin with a lid or tie up garbage sacks so that items do not blow away.
Make sure we do not pollute fresh water supplies with household and industrial chemicals and other harmful substances such as household cleaners, disinfectants, bleach and paints.
Provide adequate drainage to get rid of harmful wastewater for example, make sure that water from washing cars, industrial processes such as bauxite mining is drained away and stored safely.
keep all sources of water clean!!
