Rewatch date: March 6, 2019
Isabelle's choice: It's the only episode I remember watching in the 90s. I remember arguing about the end with a friend back in the time. I like it, especially because I'm interested in what it means to be an Homo Sapiens versus another species, and that once, several type of Homos coexisted on Earth. I want to believe it's still true !
Rewatch Date: March 13, 2019
Cathy's choice: This was the first episode of The X-Files I ever saw, and I was hooked immediately. I wanted to know more about Mulder and Scully and their relationship. I was a shipper from the very start.
Rewatch Date : March 20, 2019
Isabelle's choice: I love so much this Darin Morgan's episode ! Hilarious from beginning to the end, an incredible dynamic between Mulder and Scully, and an interesting scientific thesis: won't the Aliens (if they exist and can reach us) send robots to explore our solar system ? I agree ! And of course: "Bambi ?". Darin Morgan is a genius, I worship him. Chapeau Bas !
Rewatch date: March 20, 2019
Cathy's choice: I'm compulsive enough that I had to continue our pattern and choose something from Season 4. So I decided on an episode by my favorite writer, Vince Gilligan. This is one of my all-time favorite episodes. The writing is brilliant, the performances are brilliant, and I never tire of watching it. Isabelle and I have discussed this episode a lot, so I'm interested to see how close our answers will be.
Rewatch date : March 21, 2019
Isabelle's choice: Now, I can't break the logical sequence. In Season 5, I have some favorite episodes but I'll take another one. Christmas Carol is an episode I pretty like, but seems controversial in the fandom. It's also the first of a two parts, is Scully centered, and more a mythological episode. I know that Cathy was recently interested in the thematic of motherhood, so I'm waiting for her comments about this one. I remember that the first time I saw it I was quite surprised by the storyline, there were plots I didn't expect... Now, the surprise is gone, but I always appreciate to watch it.
Rewatch date: March 24, 2019
Cathy's choice: I chose this episode because I don't particularly like it, but I know a lot of people do. I'm hoping to gain a new perspective by comparing notes with Isabelle.
Rewatch date : March 26, 2019
Isabelle's choice: A master piece from Vince Gilligan that I've always adored. "Je Souhaite longue vie au site Watching XF across the Ocean !".
Rewatch date: March 28, 2019
Cathy's choice: I really enjoy this episode. I like the chemistry between David Duchovny and Robert Patrick, and I wish we got more of the Adventures of Mulder and Doggett!
Rewatch date: April 1, 2019
Isabelle's choice: I didn't want to go in Season 9 yet. So I'm coming back to babies M&S, and I chose a really enjoyable episode, smart, creepy, and fulfilled with dark humor.
Rewatch date: April 5, 2019
Cathy's choice: I keep seeing references to this episode, and I want to believe the universe is telling me it's time for us to watch it together!
Rewatch date: April 11, 2019
Isabelle's choice: After two episodes refering to Europe (Germany, Great Britain), I continue with the mood. Have you ever found old european medieval "gargouilles" creepy ? Grotesque is made for you !!
Rewatch Date: April 14, 2019
Cathy's choice: This episode kicks off the Cancer Arc, my favorite run of episodes. It's also a really great Monster of the Week. This is an underappreciated gem.
Rewatch Date: April 23, 2019
Isabelle's choice: I wanted to rewatch mature Mulder and Scully, and my choice went to Founder's Mutation, a great episode of the revival. Creepy, gore, a bad guy doing experiments on his own kids with alien DNA and linked to government conspiracies. Plus, Mulder and Scully emotionally involved in the case, because of their personal story as William's parents.
Rewatch date: April 27, 2019
Cathy's Choice. Another Season 4 episode for me, and another one that touches on the mythology but doesn't delve into the greater conspiracy. I seem to have a favorite type.
Rewatch date: May 5, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: Back to babies Agents and to a scary story of mind control conspiracies that I find still accurate nowadays. Aren't we manipulated by social medias or huge numeric and technology companies that steal our datas whenever we are connected ?
Rewatch date: May 8, 2019
Cathy's Choice: I've always enjoyed this episode and was surprised when I learned it wasn't a fan favorite. I must be drawn to Vince Gilligan's writing style.
Rewatch Date: May 14, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: The first time I saw this episode I fell in love with the teaser/end scene, sad Mulder reading a poem in a beautiful field.
Rewatch date May 19, 2019
Cathy's Choice: Another Vince Gilligan episode. I would certainly include this episode in my list of favorites, but I have mixed feelings about parts of it, and I want to explore that.
Rewatch Date: May 22, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: Following Folie a Deux, an experimental light-hearted episode. Mulder, once again, follows a strange path (delusion ? time travelling ? madness ? dream ?), is saved by Scully, and claims literally his love to Scully. And there is even a kiss ? Oh, brother !
Rewatch Date: May 26, 2019
Cathy's Choice: I think we should do a mythology episode, and this is one of my favorites. I love the pace, crazy Mulder, and...lots of things.
Rewatch Date: June 2, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: At this point I have to go forward and select a season 11 episode. I choose This, a terrific one with some Hitchcock's feelings and where Mulder and Scully experience a life-size Escape Game !
Rewatch Date: June 5, 2019
Cathy's Choice: I find this to be a very fun episode, with some interesting insights into Mulder and Scully's relationship.
Rewatch Date: June 14, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: In my Anasazi's comments I was harsh on Shapes. I think I have to rehabilitate this episode -maybe?-. Let's watch it!
Rewatch Date: June 22, 2019
Cathy's Choice: I have a love/hate relationship with this episode that I want to explore. It's also next up in a Monica Reyes rewatch I've started recently, so two birds with one stone.
Rewatch Date: July 4, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: A very good episode from Season 3. Scully's mom is tremendous in it, the journey of paranoid Scully very tense and credible, and Mulder in a white T-shirt lying on a couch worths the watch.
Rewatch Date: July 11, 2019
Cathy's Choice: This is one of my favorite MOTW episodes, and I recently had a chance to ask Frank Spotnitz about it at X-Fest 2019, so I thought it would be fun to discuss with Isabelle.
Rewatch Date: August 27, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: Coming back from my summer vacation, I am in the mood to watch Chinga with Cathy. Because it is worth seeing Scully in her Maine T-shirt, with sunglasses, trying to enjoy her own vacation despite an evil XF case!
Rewatch Date: September 10, 2019
Cathy's Choice: I'm always in the mood to watch the Pilot, and what better time than the anniversary of its first air-date! I love going back to the where it all started, and it will be interesting to see how we answer the questions for the very beginning of the series.
Rewatch Date: September 22, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: Just after the Pilot, what about season 7 episode X-Cops? You can appreciate how the series has turned out since its early days: an experimental series where any original idea can become true. X-Cops is a brilliant episode, so well written, acted and directed!
Rewatch Date: September 29, 2019
Cathy's Choice: This Season Two opener is not the typical action-packed mythology episode, and yet it gets us deep into the heart of the conspiracy. It's emotional as well as exciting, and always worth a rewatch.
Rewatch Date: October 11, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: It's October, so I'm now in a Fall mood. What pops up in the fields? Mushrooms. And some are very very weird. Mulder and Scully are experiencing it in the wonderful Field Trip, a hallucinogenic journey for them and all the shippers!
Rewatch Date: October 23, 2019
Cathy's choice: We haven't done a Season 9 episode yet, so it's time for a challenge. Will be be able to find any MSR? Can we come up with a best Mulder moment? Let's find out!
Rewatch Date: November 1st, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: In this Halloween period, why not rewatching the quite creepy episode Chimera? Ravens and broken mirrors, a wolf in sheep's clothing, isn't it appealing?
Rewatch Date: November 8, 2019
Cathy's Choice: So much of what happens in Season 2 impacts the entire series going forward, and Scully's abduction in this episode is certainly the most important.
Rewatch Date: November 20, 2019
Isabelle's Choice: Having just written a fanfic involving Jaws, Moby Dick and Queequeg, I couldn't help me rewatching Quagmire. What's not to love in it? It's simply a masterpiece.
Rewatch Date: December 3, 2019
Cathy's Choice: We need to fill out season 6 a bit, so here's another favorite episode from my favorite writer.
Rewatch Date: December, 2019 (Isabelle)/September 2021 (Cathy)
Isabelle's Choice (in December 2019, that was making sense at the time): An early episode to watch during the Winter season, when it's cold, windy and rainy or snowy outside.
