*The budgerigar also unofficially known as the budgie, is a type of small, long -tailed parrot and a grain eater. It is the only species of the genus Melopsittacus native to Australia. Wild budgerigars can be found throughout the arid parts of Australia, where the species has lived in difficult inland soil conditions for the past five million years.
