Valentine is dead.
Well, she's supposedly dead. To her family, her friends, the world, she's been dead for years.
Clearly, this isn't exactly true. Valentine was hired by The Foundation in her mid 20's, influenced by a falling out with her mother, following the death of her father. She grew up a lonely child, preferring to keep to herself as she burned through assignments as a student and medical papers in her free time. She could never get enough, always poring over the workings of the mind. With this feverish study, she grew cold and distant to most, taking a critical eye to people. It helped her develop an appreciation for plants, a few sitting on her windowsill and desk as she went through university. They stayed with her when she got employed and received her own office.
She grew bored, tired of the same menial problems, people coming to her to cry over their mundane issues.
So when she was offered the opportunity to work for The Foundation, it had been a quick decision.
"My condolences, now If you don't have anything actually important, leave please."
[▮▮▮▮▮▮] was born to a mother who did not love her. She'd just been unfortunate enough to survive efforts to rake her out before development.
That very same year, she was left to a foster home, somewhere she didn't fit very well into. After a short but very troubled childhood among the rather harsh foster mothers and kids in similar predicaments, [▮▮▮▮▮▮] grew tired of waiting for a life to come get her.
So, she went to get life herself.

"What a mess. Such pitiful, fragile bodies we have."
