Max has some pretty big shoes to fill.

He is currently training as a service dog, with the hope that one day in the very far future he will be able to take over for Pyper when she eventually retires. Pyper means the world to me, and the thought of anyone stepping into that role is huge, but this boy already shows so much promise. I have very high hopes for him and I'm so excited to watch him grow into that responsibility.

Right now, Max is still young and maturing. I am in absolutely no rush with him. At Von WestLynn I strongly believe that great dogs aren’t rushed — they’re allowed the time they need to develop both mentally and physically. For now he’s just being a young dog, learning, growing, and showing me more of who he is every day.

When he is ready, Max will pursue his BH, AD, WT, IGP, and KKL titles, with the long-term goal of hopefully taking him all the way to his IGP-3.

Yes, a service dog can participate in bite work as long as it is done strictly for sport and not for personal protection. IGP is a controlled working sport that highlights a dog’s obedience, tracking, stability, and working ability.

Max represents everything I love about this breed, strength, intelligence, loyalty, and heart.

We are all proud of the dog he’s becoming and excited to see the role he may one day play in the future of
