Planning Your Vlog

You've learned that vlogs vary in content and style. There are vlogs for travelling, reviewing,  unboxing, how-to and more. Regardless of the content, it can be helpful to create a plan before you start recording. Planning can help you decide on what type of style do you want? What are the different topics you'll discuss in the video? Will it be scripted or loosely structured?

Before you start recording, consider the following

Tips for creating a great vlog

Know your audience! Decide whether your vlog is aimed at novices or experts.

Focus on one idea! So, you don't confuse your audience and keep them engaged.

Have some structure! Take the audience on a consistent video journey.

Prepare! If you write a script, you may want to practice reading it before recording to ensure you sound natural and don't stumble over your words.

Play it to someone! What looks and sounds great to you, may not to others.

Be authentic, engaging and knowledgeable! But don't overload your audience with facts and figures.

Be welcoming and respectful! If you have guests on your show, create a good rapport beforehand and host with grace, even if you disagree with their views.

Use the right recording device and accessories. Learn how to use them before you start recording.

Learn which camera angle works well for you and props mentioned in your videos.

Have sufficient storage space on your phone or on the SD card for the camera.

Clear space on your phone or get an SD card for your camera.

Use quality equipment and record in the right video and audio conditions like the Progress Library Recording Studio.
