Vlog Music and Hosting

In the post-production process, you may want to add music to your video, and consider how you will share it with your peers, your professor or even the world.

Adding Music

Music and/or sound effects can be an essential component of your vlog. It helps to improve the overall quality of your content and make your vlogs more interesting to your audience. If the music choice is upbeat and catchy, you will instantly attract viewers. However, if the song is good, it can create an emotional connection between the video and the audience.

You can create your intro music using Chrome Music Lab: Song Maker or the 1010Music Blackbox (a portable compact sampling studio, available from the Library). Alternatively, the websites listed below have royalty-free music that by the copyright licensing laws.

Free Music Platform:

1. Pixabay provides access to free downloads of royalty free music.

2. YouTube Audio Library holds a large collection of instrumental downloadable music (both royalty free and creative commons).

3. Free Music Archive gives access to an extensive library of songs (creative commons).

4. Audionautix provides free songs that can be search by keywords

Hosting Your Vlog

Once you have created your vlog, you will need to make it available online so your viewers can access it through an official hosting platform. This is a place where your show resides. A hosting platform also provides other crucial features such as a storage facility for your vlogs.

When deciding where you host your videos, consider how many users currently use the online video streaming platform, what is the video storage limit and are there any privacy, security, or customization features you would like?

Here is a list of the most popular platforms:

YouTube has a vast audience with unlimited storage and bandwidth.

Vimeo is smaller than YouTube but has customizable privacy settings and provided detailed analytics of the video.

Dailymotion also provides in-depth analytics and unlimited free hosting.
