Don Tomas Mapúa (October 22, 1888) was the first licensed Filipino architect, educator, and entrepreneur in Intramuros, Manila. He studied architecture at the University of the Philippines and furthered his education in the United States, where he adopted modern architectural practices. In 1917, he became the first Filipino licensed to practice architecture in the country. In 1925, he founded the Mapúa Institute of Technology (MIT), which later became Mapúa University, shaping the future of architectural and engineering education in the Philippines.
