A wonderful paddle with several rapids along the way (Please see a Gazetteer). There are several designated camp sites along the way back into town. Take out is actually in Machias just in UPSTREAM of the Falls. (Caution). Although not a fully protected corridor, this river meanders through private forests. Plenty of spots for trout fishing. Put in has several established campsites with facilities.
Out in the heart of Maine begins the top of the Machias River. Passing through three of five Machias Lakes, this trip will take several days and several rapids. Non-stop fun and tranquil beauty. This ends at Bad Little Falls. Unless of course, you portage across the road and continue on to the coast. Launch has a primitive camp site with facility.

This trip, like all river trips, will hop over a few rapids and empty out onto one river after another. Take out could be downtown East Machias just above the rapids or farther downstream at the coast.
Put your steering skills to the test as you migrate this twisty-turny narrow river on the way to the coast. The Pleasant river is a slow, lazy all day meander. Chances of seeing wildlife is quite high. Take out is on Ridge road in Addison.
