Day 20

Ok, the main lesson today is to have good practice you need to have a clear head. And after a full day of work, my head was less than clear:)! Could not yet maintain a faster (and wide vibrato). And I need it faster than 4 beats per second to make it sound nice. My goal is six, but even five is still out of reach. I can do it for a couple of seconds, but then it breaks out. Did not do much tonalization today (not enough time:( ). And immediately notice that my sound is not as good as I want it when I begin to play exercises from Hanley's book. Spend much more time than I wanted on them! I plan to do one page per day, but I may need to change it. I did manage to do one page but was too tired after that to go to my pieces.

I need to change my practice routine when I am short on time. I will probably do a few technical exercises tomorrow and go to pieces immediately. Hanley's exercises gradually become more complex, and I need to play them a couple of times before it makes sense to make a recording. There are some obvious mistakes I need to correct first (and the video is perfect for finding problems you do not notice while playing). I also learned a little bit about video recording with two cameras and a screen overlay. In the test video, I watched my own recording (a video inside the video:) ) and made comments. Cool, but takes too much time. Not as efficient as writing a blog. Overall today is one of these days when you feel that you stepped back, not forward. Main reason? I woke up today much earlier than during the winter break:). And practice does not go well when you are sleepy:). I hope to readjust my working schedule in a couple of days:).
