OTA 1150 Physical Dysfunction I Supervised Instruction is a two-hour/week Community-Engaged Learning course. This course covers practical application of OTPF and ICF, occupational profile, rehabilitation assessments, treatment techniques, cognition assessment, and thermal and electric modalities.
During clinic, we were able to see the second-year OTAS run interventions. I really enjoyed the opportunity that we had to observe and participate in those interventions. I was able to see the application of being client-centered, what spasticity looked like and how it can affect individuals and their occupations, the making and utilization of adaptive equipment, and the education of clients and their caregivers. This experience helped me gain a better understanding of these, and many other, concepts and overall made me more excited about the opportunity to run clinic sessions in the future.
