The Government of India has designated February 28th as National Science Day to commemorate the discovery of the 'Raman Effect' by Indian physicist Sir C.V. Raman in 1928. This day is celebrated across India to instill the spirit of scientific reasoning and inquiry in young minds. The U R Rao Satellite Centre (URSC), a pioneering establishment under the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for leading research and development of Satellite technology, is hosting various competitions to celebrate National Science Day.
The competitions include model making, scientific temper, science in action, extempore science elocution, spot painting, and teachers' insight. Students and teachers from various schools are invited to participate in these competitions, which took place on February 21, 2026. Prize winners will be invited to the valedictory function on February 28, 2026. Prior registration is mandatory due to limited seats.
22 students and one teacher from BGS NPS participated in the competitions, trained by Ms. Anupama, HOD of the Science Department, and coordinated by Ms. Bijimol R.L, HOD of Chemistry.
