REFLECTION:
Both rubrics were easy to create within Canvas. The assignment rubric was easy to find and create. It took a little longer to figure out how to create and attach a rubric to a discussion. I don't love that the discussion rubric isn't readily visible like the assignment rubric as I feel like it would be easy for a participant to miss.
Having rubrics available to grade work helps me understand the degree to which learners engaged with the assignment or in a discussion. The rubrics tell me whether or not my instructions are clear and if the participant understands what to do. It also shows me the degree to which participants understand the material and can apply it. In thinking back to last week, rubrics can also help with determining whether or not the work was generated by AI or by an actual participant as the response would likely not match the rubric criteria very well if AI were involved. I can take the average scores on the assignments and discussions to determine whether the instruction matches the activites and the criteria in the rubric. If there seems to be a mismatch, then the assignments and discussions might need to be modified.
