Welcome to my digital portfolio! I strive to find new, innovative ways to use technology to deliver high quality learning experiences for adults.
This portfolio showcases some of my work from the graduate level coursework in Instructional Design and Technology as well as my Instructional Design Document that outlines my plan for a mini course in fractions operations for elementary school educators to deepen their content knowledge.
Background
I am a former classroom teacher who is National Board Certified in Early Adolescent Mathematics. I spent 18 years as a teacher, math coach, and math staff development specialist before leaving public schools for the private sector in 2018. I am passionate about education! While I enjoyed working with children and young adults, I found that my forte is working with adult educators. Classroom teaching is one of the most challenging occupations in the United States. I enjoy finding ways to support educators to help reduce some the barriers and challenges they face each day. I have created and delivered over 25 different professional development sessions for educators across Colorado, California, New York, and New Jersey.
The process of becoming National Board Certified taught me how to constantly reflect on my practice. I have found that skill to be especially important when it comes to instructional design. When I was in the classroom, I would reflect on how well the students learned the material each day. I would then determine what would be the best next steps based on the data I collected from students. Similarly, in instructional design, I examine data from participant feedback and then revisit courses and professional learning opportunities to reflect on and improve courses.
