Modding Practice for 2023 and afterward until further notice

  • I always prioritized fixes for patches when any patch breaks my current mods. When there is a big patch breaking the mods (like the ones for adding Toddler Lifestage/Snowy Escape/High School Year), I will focus on fixing the existing broken mods for patches before releasing the new mods. I usually fix all my mods within two weeks after a big patch and within a week after a small patch.

  • My practice for mod releases in 2023 would be the same as the years before, in which I will be releasing at least one early access every month (usually two if they are medium-sized mods or one if it's a big mod), keeping track of the patron benefits.

  • I create custom traits, tools for using those traits, and various types of game mods. I don't just specialize in doing one type of mods only. There may or may not be something you are interested in being released or updated each month. Please be patient if your favorite mod/trait is not the faster one to be available.

Content Sharing Policy

  • NO REUPLOAD of MY ORIGINAL MOD!

  • I do not own edits of the game tunings. However, it takes time to look at all tuning files so please do not just re-upload my edits without my consent! You may ask me first if you want to use my edits to make your own mods!

  • Do not share my mods on any cloud drive, including Google Drive and Baidu net disk! It is not permitted! You can always link to my download pages. 请不要把我的模组用百度网盘传播，只允许链接到我的网页!

  • Do not sell any mods on retail websites! It's highly unacceptable and has discouraged creators from creating new content! 请勿贩卖我的模组!


Translations

"I want to translate Chingyu's mod. How can I do that?"

  • You can translate my mods with the following requirements.

      1. If you have a translation of my mods, please also inform me and send the translation to me on my Discord Server or to my email: chingyu1023vick@gmail.com. I will upload the translations to the mod download page and credit you! 😉 DO NOT upload anywhere else without my permission. 除非你把翻译文件发送给我，否则我不会允许你翻译我的模组!

      2. You may also share a translation package with ONLY the string tables you edited on your own site or the other forums if you want to but NOT to re-upload the mod tunings and scripts. No re-upload of the mod features. PLEASE ASK ME BEFORE YOU DO THIS!

      3. If you put a punctuation mark in the name, the game runs that package first. It overrides the other mods. In this case, if you put a ! in the name of a package of string tables, e.g. !chingyu_100traits_P1_CN, it overrides the original string tables to be the translated one.


Patreon Refund Policy

  • I would NOT accept a refund request for a reason that you misunderstood how an early access item works because my mod features are all clearly stated on the post review descriptions for non-patron, monthly news, tweets, and other social media. By subscribing, you also got access to other early access posts and patron rights for that month, not just for one particular item. It would be unfair to other patrons if you get all the benefits for free while they need to pay for them.

  • I would NOT accept a refund request for a reason that you do not know my Patreon page has a charge upfront policy because I clearly stated it on all the tiers. This is a guide written by Patreon about how the charge upfront works.

  • I would NOT accept a refund request for a reason that you are not satisfied with my modding schedule because I have sincerely asked for an agreement with all existing patrons before 1st October 2021 by posts on Patreon and all my social media. Any patron who is no longer interested in the modding plan should have already deleted their membership. I also politely asked every new patron to read the Current Modding Plan linked in tiers before subscribing. This is the link to my current modding plan.

  • I would NOT accept a refund request for a reason that you misread any of my terms of use. I have been pushing you to read these terms of use CAREFULLY by linking this page to all Patreon download pages and posting the link repeatedly on all my social media. I also respectfully asked every new patron to read my terms of use linked in tiers before you subscribe.

  • I would NOT accept a refund request for a reason that you are playing with an outdated game version, which makes my mods not work with your game version. I have been keeping my mod updated for the latest game patch every month. I highly recommend you always keep your game version updated. If you have any special need to use an outdated but legal game version, you may contact me on my Discord Server and see if I have kept an old copy of my mods' previous versions. However, it will be your responsibility to check if the old copies of the mods are working for you.

  • I would NOT accept a refund request for a reason that you are playing with a pirate copy of The Sims 4 and not getting my mod to work. I never support pirate games. While I do not have the time to ban people because I see them playing with a suspicious version of the game, it is not my responsibility to check my mods for a disapproving game.


Modding Support Policy

  • I do not support pirate games. If you post a LE with pirate game versions, I will ignore you because I cannot test my mods on an unsafe pirate game!

  • I do not do patron-only mods because it is against EA's rules. Supporting me on Patreon is completely voluntary. I normally keep my new mods and updates around 20 days before public access. This does not apply if there is a Public Version vs a Private Version. A private work-in-progress version, e.g. a private version of WickedWhims and MCCC, in which the mod is already publicly available, is accepted by EA.

  • I am regularly adding additional features to existing mods and creating new mods. Patrons would get Early Access to the newest version before the public release.

  • One of my main goals in modding is to make sure my mods are compatible with other amazing creators' mods. I'm open to collaborations in modding and feel free to add references to my custom traits

  • You can report bugs and give feedback for my mods on my Discord Server.


Triggering Warning Content

  • I only provide add-ons in separate packages to replace some strings of 100 Base Game Traits with real disorder names. This is for anyone who feels like it can help them feel included and try to make a good story outcome for their Sims. It is completely optional and up to your gameplay style.

  • I do not put any name of mental illnesses as default for custom traits because I believe that mental illnesses should not be located as traits. Any good representative of mental illnesses in the game would require in-game custom interaction to add and cure them, and has to be diagnosed by professionals. There's no way I can make a totally accurate presentation of them in The Sims 4 engine. For example, Depressed is not the same as Sad, but there is no such state of mind in the game.

  • Any of my custom traits, including 100 Base Game Traits, DO NOT provide accurate presentations of any illnesses. They are provided with vague descriptions so it is up to you to interpret them as illnesses or not.

  • I will not do any super realistic traits or mods about physical or mental health. You may download adeepindigo's healthcare redux and YourFalseHope's illnesses traits if you want good realism in your game.


Adult-Oriented Content

  • I will keep my Patreon PG-13. This means I will not do 18+ animations or interactions on my Patreon.

  • My Wicked Traits only REPLACES game woohoo buffs and WW buffs so the 18+ buffs won't show up unless you also install WW. I will not add any graphical interactions for Wicked Traits.

  • I recommend you download YourFalseHope's traits if you like some explicit traits. My Traits Pickers and Club filter fully support his traits.


What I Will Never Do

  • I will not do any graphical mods to harm/kill other Sims or animals.

  • I will not do any mods that are Racist/Discriminative/Sexist/Homophobic/Transphobic/Pedophiliac.
