Veeraatu Pallanum sari kondiankottai Maravanum sari

(A Pallan from Veera Nadu and a Maravan from Kondiankottai are equal)Veera Nadu and Kondian Kottai are the name of the places in which Pallan and Maravan are domiciled respectively. Pallan are proud to say that they are from Veera Nadu and therefore they claim that we are equivalent to Maravan domiciledin Kondian Kottai.

Kudumban endral kothu vendam enban pallan

(A Pallan refuses to take wage if you call him a Kudumban) Pallar is an agricultural labour which is also locally known as Kudumban in certain places. However Pallars like to be called as Kudumban. Therefore they would work for free to accept wage if anyone calls them as Kudumban.

(Brain of a Pallan in on the gorge) This proverb is used by Non- Pallar community in order to state that Pallancannot think wisely.
