Richard and Eva’s story begins long before the two of them met. Evangeline was the second and last child born into her family. She grew up happily with her mother, father, and brother in New Jersey. They had a relatively normal life up until she was eight, where Eva’s mother disappeared and was found dead three days later in the woods, riddled with bullet holes. Her father took it the hardest, disappearing into his work as gun shop owner and leaving Eva t o be taken care of by her older brother Giovanni. Up until this point, he’d been studying human psychology. Twisted by grief and corrupted by knowledge of how it had been misused, he began carrying out his own psychological experiments on Eva, subjecting her to incredibly uncomfortable situations and scaring her with snakes, bugs, worms, dogs, clowns, and various other stimuli. She became incredibly uncomfortable at home and refused to stay while her brother was around. The happiest moment of her life came when she was in sophomore year of high school and was told Giovanni was transferring out of state to another college.

Richard was born to a relatively stable household in England, offset only by the fact that his parents had a strong and obvious favorite for Richard’s brother William. He was viewed as their golden child, garnering quite a bit of bitterness and envy from Richard. Though William tried to reach out to him and offer his brother love and attention which he realized he was starved of, Richard never wanted to be around him. Upon coming of age and gathering enough money he’d scraped together working odd jobs, Richard took to the states to try and start fresh for himself.

The two met towards the end of Eva’s sophomore year. She’d been walking her family dog at the time and passing by Richard as he tried to read a map of the subway tunnel system. She came over and politely offered him assistance, and by the end of the day they were having lunch and agreeing to meet up again. This trend continued throughout the summer, Eva helping Richard find work and staying many nights at his apartment while Giovanni came home from school for the summer. She and Richard got along great and were incredibly close as a couple. Eva moved in with him after graduating high school and getting a part time job at a convenience store. The two bounced between work as times grew harder, eventually deciding to enlist in the military to cover finances. They were deployed out to the Middle East for about two years before being discharged on pretense of suspicious practices pertaining to the execution of targets. Upon returning home, they were invited by Eva’s father to joining the family gun business and teach people how to hunt. The two loved the idea of hunting animals for food and for trophies and took to it easily. However, as time went one, regular game became boring. They took to the internet to find more interesting ways to hunt, sinking into the Deep Web and finding a quiet and small market for hunting humans. Thoroughly intrigued and trained, they decided to participate in an event, and found that it was much more fun than regular hunting.

After leaving home a second time, Eva and Richard went on to found the Prey, a site and service where for a small fee, people would be allowed to hunt human beings for sport and give them a rush unlike any other they’d felt before. The site grew very lucrative over the course of four years, catching the attention of Adam, who approached them with an interest in financing the business in exchange for a partnership in which he filmed and streamed the hunts to paying audiences. The two agree and together, the Noir cult was formed along with the continuation of their practice as the Prey. More hands came on deck, expanding the business. The rest is history.

Though they exist as a near harmonious couple, the Noir themselves could not be more opposite. Eva tends to be outgoing, confident, loud and proud. She’s very blunt about what’s on her mind and when she’s not too busy cracking people’s heads open with a hammer, she’s usually yammering on about her latest interest. She’s the homebody of the two, doing DIY projects, fixing anything that’s broken and tending to their home as a whole. She does most of the heavy lifting when it comes to keeping things intact.

Richard is the calmer and quieter of the two. His nature is mostly dedicated to listening more than talking, and he prefers the outdoors to the inside. Contrasting Eva, he’s the one who does more of the cooking, more of the cleaning, and the gentler side of domestic life, like laundry, gardening, and minor improvements for their lifestyle. He is a gentle encourager for Eva’s good behaviors and a gentle deterrent for some of her nastier habits. Though he talks less, he is equally as sincere and tends to sugarcoat things more, breaking news gently. However the couple do have their similarities.

To the uninitiated, the two are a picture perfect couple. Kind, caring, empathetic. They always communicate and rarely fight. They are loyal and faithful and have never had any problems with the long-standing commitment of their relationship. They’ve never been seen apart, whether it’s on a date, grocery shopping, or just attending events that one is certainly more interested in than the other. They are very supportive of each other’s interests and exhibit very friendly and outgoing personalities. They are very kind and fond of other people, offering exceptional charitableness and reliability to any who need it.

Behind closed doors however, the Noir are sick and twisted. They enjoy the cat and mouse game they have created for themselves. Even the wealth they have accumulated from it pales in comparison to the sheer rush of adrenaline they get while hunting humans. Their vicious and cruel displays have made them Adam’s most trusted weapons. He prides their destructive capabilities and always sends them out as the first and last people to carry out his most critical jobs. They have very persuasive methods of speech and action that they often use before it comes to violence, but when that doesn’t work, they are happy to perform the dirtier method. Sadistic partners in crime, the Noir have well-earned their place as a Deep Web legend rightfully to be feared.
