The child of two Italian immigrants, one of which is the successor to the renowned mafia family name, the Gambinos, Luka grew up in a large family where he was one of the older children who learned from an early age to be there for his siblings because his parents often couldn’t be. His father, wishing to continue to Gambino legacy and restore the mob to its full potential once again spent a lot of time away from home re-establishing connections. His mother had no time and no tolerance for that kind of lifestyle and instead worked as a full-time baker, running her own store and working long hours to scrounge together enough money to pay rent and put food on the table while Luka’s father gambled and haggled and ultimately failed to make the connections he said he was going to. With both parents out so often, it was up to Luka and his older sister to care for the younger ones. They often took turns cooking food, cleaning up laundry, and doing house chores. Luka took to delivering papers in Little Italy and considered dropping out of school to take care of his family full time. This thought occurred at a time when his father’s gambling habits had the family on the brink of homelessness, leaving them all in squalor and some of the younger children sick without treatment. After the death of his younger sister Sofia, Luka knew something had to give. When his sister heard this, she dropped out so he wouldn’t have to and stayed home to care for everyone, telling Luka to go on and graduate so that he could help bring in money. Luka obliged, excelling in his courses and immediately beginning to look for work. Backed into a corner and with limited options on hand, Luka opted to enlist in the US military. When his mother heard of this, she begged and pleaded with her son not to go, but he insisted that his mind was made up. He left home to join the service and promised to send a major chunk of each check back home to support his family while he was gone.
While enlisted, Luka trained in the military to become a communications expert. He wanted to be able to connect field operatives to bases and studied the technologies for a brief period. The longer he spent in the service, the more alienated Luka felt from other soldiers. He occasionally endured snide remarks based on his ethnicity and so he failed to make many connections during his early boot camp days, burying himself in communications work instead. It was during this time that he met Kate and the others. Once he began talking with them, Luka immediately felt at home in their welcoming and familial presence and stuck close to them wherever they went. They helped toughen him up physically and emotionally before being deployed as a registered translator and negotiator in the Middle East. For most of their deployment, Luka served as a communication line between the locals and the military personnel. He was also in charge of cooking many of the squadrons’ meals to keep them healthy and managed the rations. Many soldiers complimented him on his cooking expertise, especially his baked recipes, which he only ever described as well-kept family secrets. Despite carrying belts full of ammunition, Luka disliked the idea of firing a gun. He rarely needed to as well- his towering height often intimidated many would-be attackers into keeping their distance. The one and only time Luka ever raised his weapon was at the valley ambush. He shot and killed several men before being buried under the rubble. He fell back onto a large stone and hit his head fairly hard, knocking him unconscious. Had it not been for his medic and friend, Luka would have died that day on the battlefield.
Like his teammates, Luka was released on Purple Heart and immediately left the service. By this point, the Gambino family had accumulated quite a bit more power and his father had begun to gain notoriety around New York as the next in line to inherit the fortune. His mother had divorced him and taken the younger children to live with her, and his older sister had turned her back on their father. Luka, though happy to see him, was less pleased to find himself involuntarily roped into his father’s schemes. After a year of being involved in drug deals, robberies, and hitman coverups, Luka found that he could not stand to live the life of a criminal. He denounced his father’s actions and legally changed his last name to his mother’s, cutting all ties with his father and the mafia. Having accumulated enough wealth with his mother and sister, he helped his younger siblings and mother have a more stable and secure life before leaving for college to build on the minimal education he’d received while in the military. He became a communications expert and self-published a book describing his job in the military as a communications expert. The book caught federal authorities’ eyes and he was questioned and recruited by the FBI (with a helpful recommendation letter from Kate), joining her squadron as a cybercrime unit and communications expert.
Despite his status as an FBI agent, Luka is not at all burly, brutish, or particularly fierce. His natural disposition is best described as very warm and friendly. By nature, he welcomes people into his home and into his life and remains polite no matter how the winds may blow to try and sway him from his manners. He’s a very familial man and tries to be as accommodating as much as he can for the people he meets. He’s known well among his comrades to go above and beyond, entertaining people with stories he’s heard and stories he’s experienced, entertaining them with an almost bubbly personality and radiant sense of optimism. He tries very hard to be a strong support for people, acting as a shoulder to lean and a comforting friend that one can always approach if they are upset. By default, Luka is very gentle despite his ominous size. He has no desire to cause trouble and makes a great effort to avoid confrontation and solve issues diplomatically. He’s very eloquent and communicative, making him a great support for anyone approaching him with a problem, and he prefers to ask questions before shooting. He’s regarded as the team’s softie, and he would agree that he wholeheartedly is.
His caring attitude is nothing to sniff at however, for Luka is not weak in any capacity and his passive nature should not be taken for granted. He has been through many hardships in his life, including the horrors of war, and he has survived because he knows how to fight. He knows how to defend himself and he knows his way around weapons and hand-to-hand combat fairly well. While he would prefer not to manhandle anyone and let his height do the talking for him, there have been situations where he’s had to escort someone out himself, and he will gladly do so again if he finds a situation calls for it. With his training and his history has come a protective nature. Anyone he thinks is in danger will be sheltered safely behind him where he can defend them. When it comes to potential danger, he is cautious in his approach and likes to observe and thoroughly check an area before moving in. For someone that looks like a giant marshmallow, Luka is surprisingly powerful and is easily capable of overpowering someone with minimal effort. If he can avoid that however, he will.
Overall, Luka has a much stronger preference for simply staying at home with a nice slice of cake, some tea, and his soap operas and soccer. He’s the type to enjoy his time on his own as much as he enjoys spending time with others. If he’s not occupying himself with relaxing on his off days, he loves to go out and spend time with his squadmates, trying out new diners, adventuring into the wild on long walks and drives through the countryside, and occasionally visiting new places where he can enjoy being with them and making new memories with the people he’s closest to. He also loves visiting his family at home, especially his mother, and continues to try and support them emotionally and financially as much as he can. Luka absolutely loves being there and spending time with the people he cares about.

As such, they've put together a team of esteemed ex-soldiers and agents to infiltrate, analyze, and report on the goings-on of Rapture. Kate leads the crew, playing the role of reporter. Percy runs an engineering and repair shop. Luka runs a delightful restaurant. Jason works as a clinic specialist. The unit operates well together. Kate leads the team and strategizes how to best intercept targets. Percy works to upload deamons that will slow down the target and cripple their cybernetics so they're less of a danger. Luka handles heavy artillery fire and trapping. Jason administers emergency fast-acting sedatives by direct injection - or by sniper dart for targets who just won't go down quietly.
Dead By Daylight - Horrors of War
The Entity sees potential in the four of them. They are fighters, survivors of a brutal and bloody conflict. They are strong, they are smart, and they are clever. The perfect fodder for her trials. The fog rolled in one night after they were trying to drive home after a late night out and took a wrong turn. When it cleared, they found themselves on an unfamiliar road and started walking. The campfire they ended up at and the other survivors around it told them they had walked into Hell. There was no way out. The only thing they could do now was fight to stay alive.
Fallout - Forgotten Land of the Free

Their plan to keep people on ice - scientists, soldiers, builders - it was the only thing that kept them alive. The feds are one of a handful of survivors that have spent the last few centuries sleeping while the world crumbled all around them. Leaving their cryopods and their vault is a challenge, but the real challenge is surviving the wasteland beyond. Still, they are soldiers. They have their strength and their knowledge to help them survive. So long as they stick togeter.
Fantasy - What Wonders We Keep
The world is full of magic, even in the most mundane things. Most people wouldn't give the feds a second glance, thinking them nothing more than four typical agents cruising around the block in their big black van looking for the next big op to crash. But they'd be wrong. For there's more to these four than meets the eyes. A supernatural quality to them that makes their job of keeping the peace and cracking down on baddies that much easier. (Default verse uses werewolves. Other creatures may be used based on plotting.)
Far Cry - Your Support Has Arrived
The world's a crazy place. Crazier than ever really. In an attempt to better understand what's driving the craze and get it under control, the US government has sent out an elite infiltration and takedown team comprised of four former marines turned government agents. The feds have been tasked with flying out to various places in the world in hopes of getting a perspective and a reign on the situations going on there via undercover operation. Whether that means playing Pirates and Privateers with a hypercapitalist tyrant, toy soldier to a bratty king, heretics to a zealot cult leader, or investor in a dictator's medical malpractice scheme, Kate, Percy, Luka, and Jason are determined to be the heroes they need to be.
Grand Theft Auto - FIB's Finest
Snapped up by the FIB after their honorable discharge, the Feds made a name for themselves in Liberty busting up gangs, organized crime, and the various mobs trying carve up the State for themselves.
