Growing up on a farm in a more rural part of Oklahoma, Kate was born to a mother who worked as an emergency services operator and a father who was formerly a marine. Kate’s weekends consisted of going out and playing ball with her dad, running bases at the empty baseball lot of their town where the little league kids would play during the schooldays. The two would play baseball together until eventually, Kate began taking a liking to football and found herself feeling most at home in the grass and dirt hitting balls and chasing other players. The older she got, the more sports she branched off into, finding joy in competitive volleyball, tennis, and softball. Though the pacing of her classes often made it difficult for her to keep up at times academically, physically, Kate was unmatched. Her school years can be fondly remembered as her spending hours with the different sports teams. She ran laps around the track, participated in softball, soccer, and tennis, and applied for the football, basketball, and baseball teams but was turned down due to the coaches doubting a girl would get them to the playoffs against other schools. Despite being met with much doubt from her peers and being berated by teachers on a consistent basis, Kate shrugged off the thoughts of others and dreamed of being a sports star someday. Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan.
When Kate was in her senior year, her mother unexpectedly passed away. Her death was ruled a suicide— a common fate for 9-1-1 operators who find themselves unable to cope with the PTSD and trauma they receive from listening to some of the calls that come in. Her death came as a shock to both Kate and her father. Neither one had any indication from her mother that anything had been wrong, and so her death was very sudden and extremely painful. The grief she felt only pushed Kate to turn to her sports as an escape. She became an aggressive player, venting out her emotions and frustrations on the courts until one day, she was removed from the teams for being too much to handle. Though her friends tried to comfort her over the loss, Kate found herself retreating to play in sports independent of her school’s alone and trained herself in gyms, hoping to harden her mind by hardening her body. She took to weightlifting and yoga and it helped her, to a fault. Kate found herself no longer as focused on the grief, though failing to confront it has not given her closure. Her academics tanked for a brief while during this period, but with the help of counselors and extra hours of tutoring, Kate found herself flourishing academically by also burying herself in studies as a way to help distract herself from the pain.
After graduating, Kate delivered the news to her father that she was planning on entering the military. With him being the only other parent she had, she sought to do everything in her power to make him proud. However, much to her surprise, Katelyn’s father protested the idea of his daughter going off to fight in the war. It became a frequent topic of argument in the household, with Kate wanting to join and follow in his footsteps, and her father arguing that he didn’t think he’d be able to live if he lost his daughter. Eventually, Kate made up her mind and decided to go to the military. The night she left, she found her father having a drink in the kitchen. When she told him where she was going and went to hug him goodbye, he merely pointed at the door and told her that it was fine if she wanted to leave, but just to remember that if she walked out the door, she shouldn’t bother coming back. Hurt by this, Kate left that night for the nearest military base and joined the United States Army.
Her few weeks in boot camp passed fairly quickly with Kate excelling in most preparatory exercises. She was marked as one of the most promising soldiers to be released from the academy. She was transferred along with other recruits to a naval base up along the east coast near New York and New Jersey. During her time here, she met three people who would become her lifelong friends. The three other men were with her in her assigned infantry unit, training together, talking together, and spending time off shifts together. Their early days were spent playing card games and laughing long into the night about the circumstances that brought them together. After several months into their military careers, the four were deployed to the Middle East as part of a patrol squad providing support to civilians and helping seek out terrorists. For the most part, the team saw little of combat. Their particular area seemed to be one of little political interest, and aside from occasionally finding stashed weapons with no ideas as to how they got in places or who put them there, the squadron found themselves relatively without incident. They even had a canine unit that was used for sniffing out weapons and explosives that Kate fell in love with and allowed to sleep in her bed every night named Rocco. The team found themselves running reports most days and phoning home on their downtime off of patrols. Though they did have a few shootouts with terrorist waves that would roll through the area now and then to keep them on their toes, Kate and the squadron did not know real gunfire, but they would soon enough.
During one particular patrol through a valley pass, Rocco was sent ahead to scout the area for potential threats. When he stopped and looked at them, the team was confused and directed him to continue forward, unaware he was warning them of a potential threat. As it turned out, the pass they were moving through was infested with armed enemies who immediately began firing at them. The four managed to find cover behind protruding rocks with which to shoot at targets from but were unaware the rocks around them had been lined with explosives and that they had been separated from the rest of their military caravan. Upon being detonated, all four of them were launched, along with various debris, and were buried beneath the stones. All four were knocked out for hours and awoke long after the fighting had ceased and both sides had retreated. Katelyn was severely wounded by flying shrapnel. Her abdomen had been punctured and her intestines misplaced and protruding from the wound. Thankfully, Jason, the squadron medic, had been well-equipped to handle the injuries and was able to effectively replace Kate’s organs back in her body and stitch her up enough to where she survived the three days they were trapped under the rubble pile. They were rescued when their dog, Rocco, had come running back from the camp and began digging at the pile of rocks. Rocco had led a rescue team right to them and Kate was escorted back to their base for treatment. Though she should have been discharged on Purple Heart, Kate continued to serve in the military for two years, graduating into an instructor, before eventually retiring from the service.
Upon getting returning home, Kate applied for a job with the local swat unit team, along with her squadron who had reconnected with her. The four went about working as major swat unit while Katelyn decided to get a degree to enter a different career path. After graduating from a community college to receive a vocational degree in cybersecurity, Kate was approached by FBI agents for questioning and found that her adaptability with a computer and intimate understanding of coding and security, as well as her intel on potential enemies, could be of great use. She, along with her squadron, were recruited and joined the FBI’s cybercrimes unit with a specification for the Dark Web. She now combines her knowledge of cybersecurity with her swat experience in tracking down and arresting suspicious persons found to be lurking on the Deep Web network in New York, where she now lives in a well-protected apartment complex with her three best friends and retired military dog, Rocco.
Determined and driven by a fiery passion burning in her soul, when Kate puts her mind to something, there’s no stopping. Never raised a quitter, she is always up to face a challenge head-on and tackle it with everything she’s got. If she doesn’t nail it on the first try, she will keep at it until she finally does wrangle out the success she’s looking for. Her focus is firmly set on getting results. Often, this means Kate tends to be incredibly ambitious about projects and sets the bar for herself very high. She constantly pushes herself to be the best, and if she falls short of her goal, she will only become more motivated to train up until she can finally reach it. At the end of the day though, Kate views her persistence as merely a means to an end— that end being progress. In the workplace, she finds this is the best mindset to have throughout the day. However, Kate has a difficult time letting it go once she’s off the clock. After her shifts have ended, Kate finds herself motivated to put herself to work physically. She frequently goes to the gym to lift weights, practices yoga at home and will go on long walks or runs with her dog to keep herself busy. While she would love to participate in actual sports again, her injury from the military has prevented her from doing so. This constant compulsion to occupy herself with physical activity makes it difficult for Kate to relax, as it’s something she feels is out of her control. In reality, it stems from the fact that it became a commonplace thing in her life when she was younger, constantly moving around and occupying herself with passionate distractions to avoid facing the grief of losing her mother or any other negative circumstance she encountered in her life rather than facing. Now, it is such a deeply-rooted habit, Kate can’t help but be constantly active.
Despite how firm and serious she is during the hours of the workday, Kate is an entirely different person once work is over. She’ll often go out with her friend to have lunch or dinner, share drinks, or go driving around town with them while they talk about various things. Being with her friends provides her an escape from the constant desire to work and keep things buried, as it keeps her mind focused on the present and prevents her from having to face the past or think about things she has still failed to come to terms with. She’s incredibly sociable, polite, and has a great sense of humor when she’s with the guys, always cracking jokes and recalling stories of their early army days where they would get into little scuffles with other infantry units and have odd competitions and such.
Try as she might to avoid it as much as she can, there aren’t always things for Kate to turn to as a distraction from herself. There are moments of quiet and stillness in her life, even with the frequent bouts of insomnia she is sometimes plagued with. It is these moments where Kate feels most vulnerable and scared. Her mind often drifts between work, a day’s events, and the idea of how she got to where she currently is, sifting through the past. Kate tries not to focus on it but often grows melancholy when remembering things like her mother’s death, or her father’s last words to her. This sudden confrontation with things she feels she cannot face manifests itself in discomforts and insecurities that she doesn’t quite understand, such as her inability to talk about family with others, her difficult connecting with people at times, and abandonment issues that cause her to seek approval through her work. How Kate feels at times is very complicated, though many times, even she doesn’t understand. Often, the way she copes after she’s lost all her energy is popping some melatonin supplements, laying on the couch with her dog, and cuddling him until she falls asleep to avoid dealing with the issue. While she’s not exactly emotional, Kate does have an explosive temper that can come out when her normally long-winded patience is worn thin. Playing on her insecurities is a major way to hit a big nerve that wears it down. While she’s not known to be physically violent, many of her co-workers have said that when she lashes out, Kate is truly terrifying.

Better Call Saul / Breaking Bad - Icebreaker On Patrol
After being discharged from the service (but still before they were snapped up by the government to work as federal agents), the four feds decide to move to New Mexico and end up working as drug-busting law enforcement specialists. Their main goal? Locate and shut down dealers and cartel operatives to try and get the drug peddling situation under control. Kate leads the team with her beloved drug dog Rocco and plots out stings and interceptions. Percy monitors communication and messages through phones and emails. Luka hands the heavy fire and door break-ins on hideouts. Jason plays the skilled sniper and medic for rescued witnesses.
Bioshock - Deep Sea Marines
Andrew Ryan's deep-sea utopia has become a rather large point of contention among the top brass of the US government. As such, they've put together a team of esteemed ex-soldiers and agents to infiltrate, analyze, and report on the goings-on of Rapture. Kate leads the crew, playing the role of reporter. Percy runs an engineering and repair shop. Luka runs a delightful restaurant. Jason works as a clinic specialist. All four use their positions to gather as much information as possible - or at least they did, until Rapture fell into disarray and the four were left to fend for themselves in the crumbling city. Their government isn't coming to help them. They are on their own now.
Cyberpunk - MaxTac On Scene
After having served together in the last major Corpo War as an elite unit, the Feds work in Night City as a specialized MaxTac unit. Their main job is taking in Cyberpsychos alive where possible, however, their true goal is to identify potential outbreaks before they happen and note the causes of the attacks. The unit operates well together. Kate leads the team and strategizes how to best intercept targets. Percy works to upload deamons that will slow down the target and cripple their cybernetics so they're less of a danger. Luka handles heavy artillery fire and trapping. Jason administers emergency fast-acting sedatives by direct injection - or by sniper dart for targets who just won't go down quietly.
Dead By Daylight - Horrors of War
The Entity sees potential in the four of them. They are fighters, survivors of a brutal and bloody conflict. They are strong, they are smart, and they are clever. The perfect fodder for her trials. The fog rolled in one night after they were trying to drive home after a late night out and took a wrong turn. When it cleared, they found themselves on an unfamiliar road and started walking. The campfire they ended up at and the other survivors around it told them they had walked into Hell. There was no way out. The only thing they could do now was fight to stay alive.
Fallout - Forgotten Land of the Free
The corporations must have thought that it would be so easy to just rebuild after the bombs fell. Their own overconfidence was their downfall, but they did do one thing right. Their plan to keep people on ice - scientists, soldiers, builders - it was the only thing that kept them alive. The feds are one of a handful of survivors that have spent the last few centuries sleeping while the world crumbled all around them. Leaving their cryopods and their vault is a challenge, but the real challenge is surviving the wasteland beyond. Still, they are soldiers. They have their strength and their knowledge to help them survive. So long as they stick togeter.
Fantasy - What Wonders We Keep
The world is full of magic, even in the most mundane things. Most people wouldn't give the feds a second glance, thinking them nothing more than four typical agents cruising around the block in their big black van looking for the next big op to crash. But they'd be wrong. For there's more to these four than meets the eyes. A supernatural quality to them that makes their job of keeping the peace and cracking down on baddies that much easier. (Default verse uses werewolves. Other creatures may be used based on plotting.)
Far Cry - Your Support Has Arrived
The world's a crazy place. Crazier than ever really. In an attempt to better understand what's driving the craze and get it under control, the US government has sent out an elite infiltration and takedown team comprised of four former marines turned government agents. The feds have been tasked with flying out to various places in the world in hopes of getting a perspective and a reign on the situations going on there via undercover operation. Whether that means playing Pirates and Privateers with a hypercapitalist tyrant, toy soldier to a bratty king, heretics to a zealot cult leader, or investor in a dictator's medical malpractice scheme, Kate, Percy, Luka, and Jason are determined to be the heroes they need to be.
Grand Theft Auto - FIB's Finest
Snapped up by the FIB after their honorable discharge, the Feds made a name for themselves in Liberty busting up gangs, organized crime, and the various mobs trying carve up the State for themselves. Their wild success earned them much fame and honor amongst the branch, so when Los Santos called looking for backup in their own crime-riddled degenerate city, Kat and her team answered. Tasked with cutting down the crime rate and getting a handle on heists and peddling just like they did back home, the Feds are determined to capture every little detail and put any miscreants they find back in line.
Halo/Mass Effect - Starsweeping Soldiers
As humanity has stretched its reach out into the cold depths of space, it has found as much conflict as it has success. The Feds have proudly served human initiatives as notable and formidable soldiers in their military ranks. Serving as UNSC Spartan IVs or Alliance Marines, they have proudly held the frontlines and helped secure many victories for humanity. Kate leads them with a strong will and steady hand. Percy specializes in infiltration, electronic sabotage, and hacking. Luka handles the heavy artillery and lunch prep. Jason doubles as the team's sniper and their medic.
Mandela Catalogue/Resident Evil/SCP Foundation/Stranger Things - Monster Cleanup Crew

Recruited by their overseeing agency for their strength, resilience, flexibility, and durability, the Feds have graduated from dealing with the extreme to the just plain paranormal. And their job is to put it down and make it like it never happened. Operating under the name Hydra, Kate, Percy, Luka, and Jason have become skilled at analyzing and dealing with all manner of non-human danger, from alternates, to mutants, and monsters galore.
Marvel / DC - We Could Be Superheroes
A wise man once said that with great power comes great responsibility. In that regard, the Feds are just fine. They utilize their superhuman abilities and prowess for the better. Kate uses her super-speed to cut off danger and move civilians out of harm's way. Percy uses his super-stretchiness and super-flexibility to squeeze through tight spaces and alert others of the danger before it's even dangerous. For their bravery and dedication, the Feds were placed on the Hope as part of an initiative to send the best of humanity to the stars. Unfortunately, instead of being awoken to create utopia, they find themselves in a colony on the brink of collapse. The four of them are left to scramble about in attempts to find out what's going on and what to do. At the moment, things feel quite hopeless. But they're not giving up just yet. Their job is to help people and save lives, and that's exactly what they're going to do!
Red Dead Redemption - The Four Horseman of Justice

Backed by the federal government on an initiative to bring peace and order to the west, Kate, Percy, Luka, and Jason operate a jail in which they take up bounties and fulfill as humanely as possible. Their goal is to prove that the punishment can be justice enough, with the hope that'll their efforts will make living in the west just a little bit more bearable.
Reflect Studios - Main Verse
The Feds are an established cybercrime unit. Their task is to identify individuals utilizing the Deep Web for nefarious purposes and to put a stop to violent, trafficking, and drug-related crimes before they have a chance to occur.
Kate owns a German-Shepard named Rocco. He’s a former military hound and still serves as a K9 unit and emotional support animal.
The closer you are to Kate the more her accent comes out.
Kate doesn’t like sharing beds with other people. It’s a shame because body heat and the comforting presence of having someone next to her that she trusts while she sleeps is a form of intimacy she craves most. However, she learned the hard way that it is not a viable option for her. Early on into reconnecting with the others, she and Jason had to share a bed. She was having a really bad nightmare on account of her PTSD and when she woke up she was choking poor Jason to death and she didn’t even realize it. There were also several instances where he told her she’d kicked and punched at him in her sleep and started screaming. Following that, Kate took the floor and started using sedatives to knock herself out completely until they were able to relocate to a larger house where they each got their own separate bedrooms.
Kate is haunted by the fact she lost contact with her father. It was him who pushed her away, telling her if she joined the military then to never come back, but she still blames herself for the fact that they’re not in contact anymore. She’s tried reaching out to him but she’s never gotten a response. Upon visiting her childhood home, she was informed that the property had been paid off and transferred to her but she was never given, nor did she ever find, any indication of where her father went or if he was even alive or not. Kate gets emotional thinking on it.
(Tw drunk driving mention) The scar on Kate’s face isn’t a reminder of the war she fought in. It was caused by drunk driving and a car accident.]
(Tw alcohol, car accident, drunk driving mentions) Kate had a brief period (just under six months) where all she did was drink to deal with issues she was facing. She was at a painfully low point in her life after just having left the service where she realized her usual methods of coping were no longer helping. She tried alcohol and found some solace in the way it seemed to turn her pain into a dull buzz she could avoid focusing on. What made her stop was when she got into a serious car crash while under the influence, followed by the realization of just how bad it felt to be drunk all the time and unable to do anything.
Kate doesn’t touch alcohol. Ever since she got clean, she’s sworn on her life that she’d never go near it again. Not after it almost killed her.
Sunflowers mean a lot to Kate. She has a necklace with a sunflower charm that used to be her mothers. Her father used to plant sunflowers for her all around the sides of their house, she always had fresh sunflowers in a vase in her room and a lot of her floral-themed notebooks and bags featured sunflower prints. Aside from the traditional meanings of lasting happiness, positivity, good luck, loyalty, and strength, sunflowers mean something more to Kate: family.
Follow up to the last point: if you want to show Kate you care about her, give her sunflowers. It’s the most intimate thing you can do for her. (And if it’s romantic love you feel, pair it with white roses. She was told from a young age by her mother that white roses meant ever-lasting loyalty, pure love, and devotion. Plus, they smell the sweetest in her opinion.)
While generally Kate doesn’t really care much about her appearance (as in she’s comfortable with most aspects of herself because she knows that she’s fit for what her job requires of her) there are two aspects of herself she’s self-conscious about. Her scars and her hair. The scars are more obvious in their reasoning— they facial ones are a painful reminder of the lowest point in her life and the ones on her abdomen are a reminder of the hells of war. Her hair on the other hand, she’s less clear where that came from. She never used to have a problem with it, she tries styling it to look nice on occasion (thought it mostly stays tied back for work convenience), but she just doesn’t feel right about it and she doesn’t know why.
Kate prefers tea to coffee. She’s not fond of the way caffeine wears off and makes her crash halfway into her shift (especially when she’s working graveyard). Plus the constant drinking of it she used to do was seriously messing with her stomach. Occasionally she’ll have a strong cup in the morning with extra cream and sugar, but she’s largely gotten used to having black tea when she gets up, green or yerba mate or peppermint tea throughout the day, and chamomile before bed. She occasionally samples others to have with her meals and has started building a tea collection. (Her favorite tea by far is Hibiscus-Mango tea.)
Kate always has snacks on her. Usually those snacks are granola bars, jerky, peanut butter crackers, and— you guessed it— to-go tea packets. Which works because she always has no less that three water bottles on her person any given time.
Kate has always been into True Crime. The others like to joke that her joining the FBI was inevitable really, because of her fascination with the minds and patterns of behavior in criminals.
There was also a brief phase in Kate’s life where she was really into, of all things, conspiracy theories. Nothing too serious or harmful, but she was definitely entertained by the idea of World Reset Theory and the Mandela Effect being linked. She, Percy, and Luka would go on for hours trading hypotheticals.
After being discharged from service, Kate’s search hound Rocco came with her and was retired and retrained as an emotional support animal and K9 unit. He guards her, alerts her when she’s getting more distressed than she should be, helps keep her grounded, and supports her when she does end up having an attack.
Kate frequently suffers from intense abdominal pain. It’s the result of pressure being applied to old scar tissue, usually from stress. It comes and goes but it’s rarely severe enough to put her off working.
Kate has a very sensitive chest.
Kate's favorite position is cowgirl. She enjoys riding her partner and being able to see their face.
Kate enjoys giving oral to her partner. Especially if it involves them holding her ponytail.
