Born in a steady household in North Carolina, Bob was raised on a farm. His father was a butcher for a living, and seeing as he was the only one in the community, Bob and his family lived quite well. He learned early on how to care for and kill the animals. He has vague memories of learning how to ride a horse and being kicked in the head. While most of his childhood is a blur to him, his father told him that he loved standing on a stool beside his mother when he was young to help her cook, and he loved eating. Most of his childhood was uneventful in its passing. Though nothing seemed particularly peculiar about Bob, his parents noticed that he was a very quiet boy most of the time. He didn’t enjoy interacting with other kids and instead preferred to spend more time with his animals. They thought it was simply a phase he would grow out of.
Around when he was 12, Bob’s home life began to deteriorate. His mother would act out against his father. She complained of constant headaches and swing between being very sweet and very aggressive towards her husband. Though Robert was never the target of her anger, he routinely witnessed it with a passiveness and tried to comfort his father, though he felt no sympathy for him. When the divorce inevitably came on the ground of his mother having a mental disorder, he stayed with his father. He had a girlfriend for a brief while, but his desire for romance was nonexistent and they ended up breaking up. When he turned 18, his father hung up his apron and passed the business down onto the Bob. Bob was more than content to stay home cooking all day, although he began to develop a distinct craving for something more. New flavors.
He was 23 when he committed his first murder. He’d been studying the taste of human flesh and how to kidnap someone on the dark web, and eventually tricked a woman into coming into the back of his shop, where he butchered and murdered her. She was only the first. Bob went on to develop a taste for human flesh in particular. He went on methodically importing trafficked humans and luring in fresh meat to be butchered and sold on the black market. He went on to establish two websites: the butcher, where he taught how to kill and serve humans the way that he did, and Flesh Trade, a cannibal community where people could talk and even meetup to discuss and trade recipes and samples. On both sites, he goes by Bob Arson– a play on his real name. To date, Bob has never once been implicated in any of the missing persons cases in his area.
Robert is very much the charismatic type. Despite his intimidating height and bulky stature, he tends to be exceedingly gentle and friendly and has a sometimes dark sense of humor. He loves to joke around and meet new people, tends to be very superficial, and enjoys scrutinizing and critically analyzing the body structure of every new person he meets. He tends to get along well with people because he is very observant, can read them very easily, and adapt his personality to make them more comfortable and open around him— a learned trick for gaining the trust of his prey. He can form deep and meaningful relationships over time, but finds it is hardly worth it in the long run. His pleasant attitude is merely a front for feeding his deranged desire for human flesh. Beyond this facade his is cold, unfeeling, and seemingly devoid of emotion. He rarely feels more than a flicker of emotion at a time and finds himself unfazed by most forms of horror or destruction.
Aside from his cannibalism business, Robert enjoys doing things like interior design and has a particular eye for blueprinting and layouts. He also enjoys woodworking and occasionally fixing things around the house or looking under the hood of his car. Prior to being the butcher, he was considering going into a job involving technical engineering because of his fascination in the way things, especially complex mechanisms, are built and function, and his eye for detail and creative thinking meant he could find and fix problems easily. He loves thinking outside the box and enjoys puzzles and activities which require him to think. And while is feelings for humans may be incredibly limited, Bob adores animals, both for eating and for keeping. He feels a deep connection with them and enjoys tending to them very diligently.
Bob is a difficult person to read. All that is certain is that the Butcher is a man to be feared, even if he gives one every reason not to be afraid.
