The concept of Penny's existence came from Alex Xiuying. A masterful artist and engineer, Alex ran a company assembling custom-made animatronics for restaurants, theme parks, and public attractions. His inspiration for most of his original designs came from his daughter Penny, who fell ill with a terminal illness. One of the many things she remarked on missing while in hospital was traveling the world with her father to see new animals and learn about them. So, Alex had the idea of creating an attraction that would feature a colorful cast of characters Penny had made, each of which would have its own unique zone to learn about the regions of the world and their wildlife. He called the place Wild World. It took four years to complete and his daughter was only ever able to visit it once before she became too frail and ended up passing away.

Penny was created for a section of the place known as Adventures in Asia, which featured an indoor roller coaster, climbing attractions, and a diverse array of child-safe cooking activities, scroll practice, papercraft, and painting. Penny was the overseer of the area. Designed with a plush, cuddly design in mind, Penny was a friendly face, a comfort to the children, and would often use her belly compartment to offer earth cakes to visitors. She would sing songs and teach phrases from various Asian countries to visitors. She was dubbed the facility's main mascot and was both well-recognized and well-loved for many years. However, after Alex finally lost the fight against depression following his daughter's death, the franchise was handed over to his ex-wife who sold it at a severely low price to a small business. Not knowing how to manage the attraction, it changed hands several times and underwent multiple unpopular changes. The animatronic characters were displeased at how companies attempted to gear them away from their original purpose of education, as well as general aesthetic choices. Eventually, the attraction lost its core and business began to decline until it eventually shut down. 

The state of the characters is currently unknown.

Cheerful, optimistic, and bubbly, Penny serves as a wonderful mascot. She's very friendly, greeting new people with a kind smile and welcoming them with utmost hospitality. Her upbeat and knowledgeable nature makes her a treat for both kids and adults to interact with.  She's kind, generous, and goes the extra mile to make sure everyone is having a fun and safe time. Her flexible communication skills and eye for people feeling left out makes her ideal at perpetuating an inclusive environment for everyone. 

Stepping away from her customer service role, Penny is very organized and detail-oriented. She looks like she goes with the flow - which she does- but that's only because she has a backup plan for every occasion. She has a way of inspiring confidence in others with her assuredness and well-planning. Some would describe Penny as a natural-born leader. She lifts others up and works with them rather than just bossing people around. Progress brings her great joy,but she will not reach it if it means compromising her strong moral compass. Additionally, while Penny tends to operate very strongly and independently, she's flexible enough to work with others as long as she can communicate with them.

For all that optimism, Penny tries to avoid conflict. When it comes to others, she'll gladly stand up on their behalf and defend them to a reasonable extent. As for herself though, Penny tends to be very avoidant and almost shy when approached with a direct issue aimed at herself. When the going gets tough, this panda gets rolling.

• Following the closure of Wild World, Penny is bought by a private company/individual looking to take her on as a companion/caretaker. Her advanced behavior and caring instincts make her an ideal companion to someone in need of her assistance.

Beastars Verse

• The lead entertainer of Wild World, a children's attraction located in the heart of the city, Penny enjoys a comfortable and fun life taking care of young animals and educating them about the world around them in fun and engaging activities like papercraft, food, and music.

• Penny will curl up into a ball when threatened and roll away. This makes it harder to reach vital spots and also makes her harder to catch. 

• Penny's body is reinforced with a thick fur coat, thick rubber coating around her wires and mechanisms, and reinforced steel sheaths around her wiring itself. But just because it's hard to damage her, doesn't mean it doesn't hurt.

• Penny loves cooking and baking. She makes some mean pork buns and earth cakes. 

• Penny loves crunching on bamboo and drinking bamboo tea.
