Roger is believed by many to be a demon conjured by Gary and his cult by performing the Second Death ritual and is believed to have brought about by Tiffany specifically, though no one is quite sure of this. This is partially true. Originally, Roger resided in a secret sanctum with a demon posing as an old nun named Miriam Bell. The sanctum, located within the Sterling Candy Tunnel, was his home along with his Mother before he was summoned by Tiffany when she completed the Second Death. He was forced to leave the sanctum through the Candy Tunnel and was drawn to the apartment complex where the cult resides. He now stalks the halls of the apartment complex, primarily lingering in shadows. Those that see him have been instructed not to talk to him, approach him, or make themselves excessively noticeable by him. If they are approached, they’ve been told not to move. His purpose is unclear and he mostly exists to draw attention to the fact that the UNSPEAKABLE exists.
Roger has vacated the building several times and wandered off through Connecticut. He regularly returns home to the Candy Tunnel to be with the Mother, visit people practicing the occult, and occasionally looking for souls to sustain himself with. Often times, drug addicts and other criminals hiding out in the tunnel will mistake him for an easy target and when they do, Roger turns on them and consumes them. Aside from wanting the occasional snack (which he doesn’t even really need), Roger mostly wanders around aimlessly and floats between places without higher function or purpose. He answers to two people: Tiffany and Gary. Though Tiffany generally ignores his existence and has no purpose for him, Gary often puts him on display for the cult to behold and uses Roger to try and commune with the UNSPEAKABLE. Roger helps Gary prepare for rituals and indirectly informs them of what is needed for them to be done successfully, but has no direct hand in the proceedings.
Roger is naturally very docile and passive in nature. A reserved demon, he keeps to himself and seldom gets involved in the matters or lives of the mortals he walks amongst. Occasionally, he may grow to be intrigued by their behavior if they manage to garner his attention and may come closer to observe them or their actions. If they don’t move, Roger will eventually lose interest and wander off again. If they continue and simply refuse to acknowledge him, Roger may continue to watch them. The behavior of human beings is not something he understands in any capacity and he often finds himself curious or even fascinated by the things humans will do. It’s very rare that he actually speak and he mainly conveys emotions, ideas, and thoughts by peering at people through his fingers, picking up or pointing at objects, or otherwise making gestures with his hands. If at any point Roger feels threatened or challenged by something, his hands will spread apart and burst out into long, branch-like tendrils, exposing his mouth at the center. These tendrils are deceptively strong and will wrap around his intended target, allowing him to effectively latch on, tear into them, and devour them whole. Afterwards, they will revert back into their usual hands and Roger will carry on as if nothing has happened. If Roger sees people run from him, he feels compelled to run after them but generally won’t try to hurt them unless they pose a threat to him.
Occasionally, Roger is prone to acting gloomy. He may sit by himself for hours at a time in darkness and become inert. This usually happens when he has been away from Mother for too long and can’t return to her immediately. When he gets the opportunity, he visits her in the sanctum for a time before returning to the surface once more and resumes his normal behavior.
While Roger generally doesn’t show it, it is possible for him to get attached to people. If he does, he’s generally prone to follow them around aimlessly and try to mimic their behaviors. Given the chance, he will develop favorite people to be around. He’ll make nests with specifically their clothes in it and displays an odd but endearing amount of loyalty and protectiveness over them. If he’s actually inured in the process, Roger will fight back and scamper off but he’ll eventually return to them. He’s not particularly physically affectionate, and often avoids being touched in any way, shape, or form; puffing up and “hissing” if others get too close, but if someone he likes engages him (hugs, patting, etc.) he may become affectionate. Talking is still a rarity however. His trust and his loyalty are very strong when it comes to a person he’s bound himself to, though this does not mean it is unbreakable.
STRENGTHS: Can easily navigate through darkness, very fast and agile, surprisingly strong for his body type, incredibly intelligent, somewhat social, determined and hardy, stealthy when he wants to be
WEAKNESSES: Difficulty lifting things, insatiably curious at times, comes off as creepy, difficulty getting up if he is knocked down somehow, often confuses people for Mother, tends to get way too close, has a tendency to chase people if he sees them running, easily startled, has difficulty deciphering friend from foe at times, unapproachable appearance, has difficulty communicating, crucifixes
HOBBIES: Walking along the roads at night, meandering around the corridors, watching humans do mundane tasks, trying to eat human food, hopscotch, jumprope, making nest from the clothes of members of the cult he finds, leaving blood drawings on the wall or runes on the floor, taking long naps, visiting Mother, eviscerating those that try to threaten him
LIKES: Food, soft textures, darkness, watching people, nesting
DISLIKES: Smug humans, religious figures and symbols, being knocked over

If Roger feels threatened, he won’t hesitate to defend himself, and he is brutal and merciless in his attacks.
Roger rarely speaks. He prefers to communicate with his hands, eyes, and body language. This isn’t always easy though and requires a bit of interpretation to understand. If someone runs from Roger and he sees them, he’s going to chase them. His intentions are normally not malicious, but they can be if the person or thing he is pursuing strikes out at him.
Roger can and will make attempt to view people doing things or mimic their behavior if he thinks he can. Be aware that things might get moved around or go missing.
When Roger is angry or feel threatened, his body physically puffs up and expands, and quiet distorted screaming can be heard. It’s so faint, it sounds more like a frog screaming. These, and the clenching of his hands, are the only warning signs that he’s about to strike.
Sometimes Roger resides in the sanctum, sometimes he resides in the apartment. If someone follows him to the apartments, be aware they might run into Gary. If they follow him to the sanctum, be aware that they may run into Mother or the UNSPEAKABLE.
Roger can expand his ribs up to 2.5x their resting size when he’s angry and puffs up.
Cats don’t like Roger. Which is just fine with him because he doesn’t like them either.
Elsa Wolcott - Mother Figure (maximuses)
Found by Elsa during the blackout, their mutual curiosity about each other led to Roger getting attached to Elsa and viewing her as a new mother figure to follow around. Elsa, still grieving about the loss of her son Andy, was all too happy to accept him.
