Jaxen was born into a Nomad clan known as the Desert Wolves. Her mother died shortly after she was born and her father was absent for her youth until he was flatlined during a skirmish with Militech. Thankfully, Jaxen was in good hands being raised by the rest of the clan. Most of her days were spent scrapping and working alongside the clan’s ripperdoc, Marnie. Over time, Jaxen showed a strong proficiency and interest in medicine and technology, and she began assisting in operations and recovery. When she was around 13, she also began taking care of a newborn by the name of Volt, who was in similar circumstances as she’d been when she came into the world. She also began taking over the responsibilities of Marnie, who was becoming too old to handle operations. Around this time, the clan also began finding turbulence in the management. In order to avoid giving in to the pressure of corporations looking to absorb the family, they fled into Night City and attempted to form their own gang. The attempt was a bust, and within a few months, the group had fallen apart with many members being picked off by the like of Tyger Claws, Maelstrom, and Valentino members.

Jax struggled to provide food and shelter for Volt but refused to give up. She turned to street fighting and mechanic work to get the eddies flowing. She was a decent boxer and became quite popular in her little corner of Night City, earning the title of a reigning champion sorts. However, it was her mechanic work that got her noticed. A man by the name of Walter took note of her proficiency with mechanics and the two began talking routinely about the potential she had. Only around sixteen at the time, Walter expressed a desire to get her connected to the right people and gained her trust by setting her up with a few mechanic jobs. Eventually, he convinced her that their friendship was a relationship. From there, things began to escalate quickly, with Walter marrying her when she was eighteen and beginning to isolate her from Volt. They ended up moving across Night City and from there, Jaxen became a prisoner in her own home. When she wasn’t working, she was expected to be cooking or cleaning up after Walter, and any resistance from her brought about serious physical consequences. It only worsened once Jaxen began pondering getting a higher education as a nurse. In an attempt to trap her and prevent her from gaining independence, Walter forced himself on her and the two had a child.

Despite the circumstances around Corbyn’s birth, Jaxen loved her son more than anything in the world. He became her motivation for pursuing a higher education. It began with a degree in registered nursing, then a bachelor’s, and eventually a spot on Trauma Team. All the while, the abuse became more and more unbearable. Jaxen finally put her foot down after having dealt with the treatment for years, insisting on being a good role model for her son now that he was old enough to understand what was going on. She informed Walter that regardless of his own feelings, Jaxen would be pursuing a career as a professional ripperdoc and Trauma Team Platinum member. In retaliation, Walter, who had turned out to be a major peddler of “scavenged” implants and drugs, ended up turning his hands on Corbyn, killing the poor boy. While Jaxen was devastated, this ultimately proved to be the last push she needed to run. She packed what little she could and took off in the middle of the night, eventually ending up on Volt’s doorstep. Volt was initially surprised and irritated with her, having felt abandoned. However, upon seeing the state Jax was in and hearing her explanation of what had happened, the merc was quick to invite Jax in and let her stay until she was back on her feet.

Jax did eventually get her certification to operate as a ripperdoc. Between working as a Trauma Team unit and independent implant specialist, as well as an in-home nurse on the side, she quickly made enough to get her own spacious apartment near the city center. Regardless, she did not forget how she got there and she still frequently meets up with Volt and gives back to the community that helped her put herself back together after Walter spent years breaking her down. That’s not to say she doesn’t still feel the pain of all her old wounds on her shoulders.

Jax is a kind, compassionate soul with a passion for what she does. She takes pride in her ability to fix any wound and repair any machinery, no matter how battered or beaten. She earned the nickname “Angel” for the fact that in her three decades of practice, she’ never once lost a patient. No matter how desperate or how dire, Jax can put anyone back on their feet. Her incredible proficiency in the fields of mechanics and medicine has earned her more than a few offers from the likes of Biotechnica. Thankfully though, Jax is almost as integral as she is skilled - she refuses the help of corrupt organizations. Instead, she works through fixers to have crats from imports delivered to her shop, where she sells the parts at a serious markdown - or even gives them away for free to people who really need them. Her job as a member of Trauma Team is her main focus, but she is a good planner and maximizes her appointments as an home-health nurse and fits her ripperdoc schedule in between. And of course, she leaves herself more than enough time to enjoy the boxing matches Night City has to offer.

When she’s not keeping on as a legendary medical professional, Jax enjoys practicing fight sports in her own time, with a specific focus on boxing. She enjoys feeding the strays in her neighborhood and tending to the myriad of imported plants she has in her house. Reading is another favorite hobby of hers, as is going out for rides with Volt. She’s not super fond of social situations and doesn’t like going to bars or clubs, preferring instead to listen to music and dance at home while her candle collection burns. Being around other people she doesn’t know makes her anxious. Above all, her main passion is building and designing her own machines to help make her life easier - whether that means making operations go more smoothly and painlessly, or whether that means just letting a homemade Roomba do the sweeping so she doesn’t have to, Jax loves utilizing technology and making things operate at full potential.

Barring the anxiety and well-placed mistrust of strangers, Jax has a heart of gold. She is super friendly and enjoys offering support and empathy to those who don’t see much of it. But don’t be fooled - Jax is no pushover. Even the boldest gang members would be wise to give this medic a wide berth, for her right hook could be lethal under the right circumstances. That being said, few want beef with her for the sheer fact that she has the best prices and the best medical service that many can afford. Wouldn’t want to have any drama with the lady in charge of fixing your cardiac implant.
