Letaba had a pretty normal life as far as lionfolk go. He grew up in a happy pride raised communally, learned all of his hunting skills and learned early on his place in the pride was to make and mend weapons. He had just two flaws: his lineage as a half-demon, and his fascination with technology. Because the former had no physical manifestation (barring his odd coloration) Letaba faced few issues for being half demon. The real issue was his childhood interest. His mothers would frequently take him into cities where he learned about technology in all its wonders. His pride tried to dissuade him, being more traditional and not wanting to embrace new technology and risk losing “what made them lions”. Letaba’s deep fascination with technology got him into trouble on more than one occasion. Though he became a successful hunter and excellent warrior, his pride still viewed him as a troublemaker and an affront to all they held sacred in traditionalism. His birth mother did his best to support him, but lacking his father’s support and care and seeing him shun him did a number on Letaba’s confidence for many years. When he was old enough, he left home and began walking to find a new pride to conquer for himself. At least, that was what was expected of him. But Letaba had no interest in fighting another pride in the traditional manner and conquering it. Instead, he went off and created a business for himself dedicated to fixing and repairing small objects in order to save up money.

He didn’t get very far when the war decimated his home and his business, driving him to enlist in the fight. He was deployed to Nepal to work with a unit that would later go on to capture the entirety of India and hold the world’s arm behind its back demanding equal rights. With their success, the war ended and Letaba, now with more than enough money, decided to attend a university in the United States for engineering and science. After graduating, he returned home to restart his business and became a small tycoon or designing and developing new technologies. Whereas others in his field focused on weapons and vehicles, Letaba specialized in devices meant to make life easier- robots that could perform dangerous jobs and training sessions for people to be integrated into the field by learning how to work said robots. He fell into competition against one of his old brothers in arms- Maverick Clawdio. The two had been at each other’s throats for years until finally, Letaba was forced to close down and leave his old home to find greener pastures. He relocated back to the US, where he shifted into a career in biomedical technologies. From there, he worked himself through various job, including nursing, and medical examination.

In recent years, people have begun disappearing from his area, with only scraps of their bodies and their scattered bones being recovered. Many believe it to be the work of wild animals moving in to reclaim the city. Police however, have pieced together a different story, believing that a wild hunter or cannibal is on the loose by the bite marks engraved on the bones of some of the recovered. No suspects have come forward. After a particularly close strike to home, Letaba has gone through investigative training to help aid the community in finding the perpetrator. He leads his community’s local watch and serves as a private investigator for the Wilder Detective Agency, and he is determined to help catch the maneater.

Polite and charming as a cat can be, Letaba is a very friendly, community-oriented man. He tries to help wherever he can, believing that the needs of everyone should be taken into consideration. He’s a very good problem solver and tries to lend a hand wherever possible. Many people revere him for his compassion and his brilliance, as well as his ability as a teacher. He’s improved the lives of many around him and many people have come to depend on him for support. His standing with his new pride is very positive, though he is often looked down upon by corporate goons, especially Maverick, who see his methods as a waste of time and an insult to successful business men like himself. Leta doesn’t seem to care too much about what others think. He’s content being a community man and tries to focus more on the positives in life. He’s very much an optimist and an opportunist. He believes in taking a bad situation and turning it into a good one.

While he tries to be polite and cordial with new people, Leta is no pushover. He doesn’t take kindly to threats being made against this family by anyone, and while he is first and foremost a mediator, he is still a lion at heart and his warrior spirit never died. He is against unnecessary fighting, but when a situation calls for defense, he is a fearsome opponent. Thankfully, the good vibes of his environment rarely call for such measures.A thoughtful leader, Leta has secretly dreamed of leaving his home to help the world. He travels often enough to visit friends in far away lands, but at the end of the day, he is just content living his happy quiet life. By day at least.

Kind and good-natured as he is, at heart, Leta is still a predator and his instincts are often strong and insatiable. The demon blood in his veins occasionaly leads to him acting put by hunting like a lion. His carnage stays limited to wild animals and though he often feels extreme guilt for his actions, he has been tempted to consume living people for sustenance just to satiate the dark instincts within him. Though he’s never done anything criminal, Leta feels a hole growing in his heart with this dark secret. He does not like the thought of violence, and a part of him knows he should seek help. What stops him is the idea of how others might react when they find out he was a half-demon all along. Or worse, if the infamous demon-hunting demoness from hell, Lucina, catches his scent.

Fantasmal Forces - MAIN

• Letaba works as an extra detective in the Wilder Detective Agency. Predominantly, his role is down in the lab with Wally. He handles medical examinations and autopsies while Wally handles ballistics and DNA testing. Occasionally though, he ventures out with Rayn to scope a crime scene. On the side, he has a custom robotics and engineering business.

• Unbeknownst to many, including Leta himself, his father in the pride was not his true father. His biological father was a demon, and at his birth, he cast a spell on Letaba vowing he would be the most powerful lionfolk to ever walk the earth. As a result, this “blessing” came with its own side effects, including exacerbating his predatory instincts to an extreme degree.

• Leta would never hurt another person intentionally. He is at times motivated by instincts and loses control of himself, but he fights very hard to protect others from himself every day.
