“The Divine way of offering to God”
Of the Pancha Bhoothas viz. Space, Air, Fire, Water & Earth, the only man creatable and manageable bhootha is fire. The rest of the bhoothas can’t be created as easy as fire. Hence the direct force of God takes the offerings we humbly submit in the form of “Aahuthi”.
The final bhootha Earth, is capable of making things in multifold (One seed yields multiple grains) with the help of water which comes as rain from the first bhootha “Akasha”. When we offer Aahuthi to God through Agni, it takes it to Akasha which is directly taken to the God. Hence think of the boons you will receive due to this direct contact that gets executed through “Homa”
“The divine way of beckoning God”
Our ancestors found that sound creates and brings some changes in our life. Good sound brings good returns and vice versa.
On noticing these effects, they have bifurcated these sounds to form words and patterns of couplets, in various meters to get the boon of attaining the desired result.
The continuous chanting of these syllable or the slokas are termed as Japa. One who performs it sincerely is assured for its results and there comes the culmination of sound, thought and the performers. When the result is achieved the word let out from the performers will surely happen and his blessing will protect the beneficiary at all times.
