Premiers' Reading Challenge

The 2025 Premiers' Reading Challenge is now open! 

We’d love to see as many of you as possible taking part in this year's Premiers' Reading Challenge, and will be rewarding your efforts with housepoints - such as when you log your first book, or contribute a book review!

 To join, come and see Chloe or Jordan in the library or message us: vbclibrary (MS Teams or email).  We will send you your sign in details for the Challenge dashboard.

Challenge details

PRC asks you to read 15 books (10 books from the Challenge book list and 5 free choice books). 

Joining the Challenge gives you access to the PRC Dashboard where you can log and rate your reading, and write reviews. The Dashboard also helps you get recommendations for new books to read, and you can access book reviews from other students all across Victoria.

Make the Challenge your own

We encourage you to make the challenge your own and set a goal that works for you. You might challenge yourself to read 5 books, to try a new genre or to start listening to audiobooks. See this page for some examples of how you could modify the challenge.  

Setting yourself a challenge is a fantastic way to get motivated to read more - and studies show that more reading leads to better performance across ALL subject areas. 

Add a book you are reading

From the menu at the left of page, select Search books. The best way to search is to use the Advanced search to search for the author name and/or title (or some words from the title). 

You might find there are multiple versions of the book listed - look for one from the Challenge list if available - select the title and click on the + Add Book button. On this page you can also see other student's reviews and ratings for the book.

If the book you are reading isn't on the website, you can add a placeholder for the book by searching for and adding 'VPRC Choice book' - send us the details of the book and we can request that it be added to the website. 

Finishing a book

When you have finished reading, locate the book on your Dashboard and click the 'Finish' button. If the book isn't on the Challenge list you can check a box to recommend it is added.

Our Challenge coordinators will regularly check the platform to verify the books you've added.

You can also use the platform to find book recommendations - scroll down on your home page to see recommendations based on the books you have added, and to see what has been trending here at Viewbank College.
