Newspapers are a useful tool for historical research. As well as giving us information about events, they can tell us about people's beliefs and attitudes at the time.
Australian newspapers have been digitised and made freely available on the National Library of Australia's Trove website. You can view an image of original articles, as well as a machine-generated translation (and you could even contribute to the project yourself, and correct any machine-made errors!).
