The procedure for Name and Gender change involves steps:
Obtain the GD (Gender Disorientation) Certificate from the Surgeon working in the hospital who operated the surgery
Make an Affidavit for Change of Name and Gender via Notary or Judicial Magistrate
Place Newspaper Advertisements in the Local and National Newspapers
Prepare the documentations (Request letter, CD Certificate, Witness Forms and CD containing Name Change Advertisement)
Submit the Documents to the Department Of Publication
After collecting the necessary documents, government fees, and an application letter, they must be submitted to the Department of Publication in Delhi. This can be done in person, by post, or courier.
Upon submission, the department reviews the application. If everything is in order, it's sent to the Government of India Press for notification. The name change typically appears in the Gazette Notification Part-IV within 25 days to 30 days. An electronic copy is then made available for download from the official website, www.egazette.nic.in.
