Peppermint can help relieve the vertigo as well as help relieve the nausea that may accompany it.
Peppermint has the ability to cool you and make you feel refreshed, which takes away from the “fainting” feeling. Place a few drops into your diffuser and inhale the benefits. Alternatively, you may add to a blend.
Ginger has properties that are very well known for treating nausea. Most people are not aware that it is also effective in relieving vertigo. Ginger helps to improve blood flow to your brain and relieve dizziness. Place one or two drops at the nape of your neck, on the bottom of your feet, and behind your ears. You can also add to a blend or diffuser.
Lavender is one of the most popular essential oils, and with good reason. It has a ton of properties that are good for a variety of ailments. The smell of lavender is sweet and relaxing. It helps to relieve dizziness, depression, and helps you sleep.
Basil has anti-septic properties that can help reduce dizziness and vertigo.
Clary Sage is a great oil to help combat vertigo. Clary sage can help balance the nervous system, and act as a sedative. In addition, it has been used as a remedy for seizures and anxiety attacks.
Add a few drops to your diffuser, or add a few drops to a pot of hot water and breathe it in deeply. You can also use a diffuser. When you inhale the vapors, your nerves will be calmer and your senses heightened. Be careful when applying sage oil on your skin as there may be adverse effects. As always, make sure you dilute all essential oils with a carrier oil, if you are applying directly to your skin.
Rosemary oil can be helpful in relieving dizziness, depression, and fatigue. It can also alleviate migraine headaches.
Frankincense is a resin that is obtained from the sap of the Boswellia family of trees. Place a few drops of oil a the base of the neck or at the temples of the head. You can also breathe in the benefits by adding a few drops to your diffuser or a hot pot of water. This is a great oil that can assist in reducing vertigo from middle ear infections, anxiety attacks, and stress.
If vertigo persists, and you are unable to give relieve to your client with essential oils, ensure you recommend they see a doctor immediately. Vertigo may be a symptom of a serious health condition that needs evaluation and treatment from health professionals.
Always dilute your essential oils with a carrier oil when applying to the skin. Always use with caution, especially the ones with stronger scent. They can have side-effects, and may not be tolerated well in people.
Avoid essential oils that contain specific constituents, such as 1,8 cineole, which is also called eucalyptol when found in Eucalyptus Eucalyptus globulus and cajuputol when found in Cajuput Melaleuca leucadendron.
