Senior Chats aims to help alleviate social isolation among older adults in the Madison community by fostering meaningful connections with health professions students. Feelings of loneliness are common among older adults and can significantly impact physical health, mental well-being, and overall quality of life. By creating opportunities for consistent social interaction, Senior Chats works to build supportive relationships that promote connection and community among older adults in the Madison area. Through this program, students are paired with local seniors for regular phone conversations, providing companionship and a space for meaningful dialogue. These intergenerational connections not only help reduce feelings of isolation for older adults but also allow students to develop communication skills, gain insight into the lived experiences of older adults, and build empathy for the populations they will serve in their future careers. Senior Chats strives to strengthen human connection across generations while supporting the well-being of the Madison community.
