This project was one of the most challenging, especially in the time frame that I had to develop It. Originally, I was creating training videos but I wanted to create a platform where my learners could come to one place and have all the content available. I had gained experience in ETEC 500 creating website on google sites, which lead to me to decide on developing a website that will contain the instructional material I develop. I was able to gain inspiration from other ID students in the program by seeing their approach to creating website as an instructional platform. Overall, I felt I created a product that I am proud of and have gotten positive feedback from its target audience.
These videos push me to use all my technology skills into one product. I utilized my graphic developing skills in creating the intro areas. I had to break out of my comfort zoom and put myself in front of a camera. I utilized adobe premier to edit all the content and it was interesting having to listen to myself for several days while editing. My videos ended up coming out longer than I intended. For future iterations or instructional videos I will aim to break them up into shorter videos. Overall, I am proud of the videos I have created as it allowed me to utilize many instructional technology strategies, like creating a short script to stay on track on my instructional delivery and editing techniques to keep the viewer engaged.
For ETEC 544, my team and I were able to utilize the ADDIE model and develop a thorough and comprehensive face to face training that aimed to train staff at SBVC on how to use technology in a high tech classroom. This was our teams first attempt at using the ADDIE model and Dr.Leh pushed us to make sure we all had a concrete understanding on this instructional design model. The process allowed us to develop this instructional power point along with a list of objectives that allowed us to achieve our goals. I also had an opportunity to use this content to deliver a face to face pilot test with the information technology department at SBVC. I was able to receive positive remarks on the training as well as feedback to improve the content for its intended audience.
For this project I aimed to create a piece of instructional content in the form of an instructional graphic. Zoom has become an essential part of the educational field. I aimed to create beginner level instructional material in previous classes, but i wished to create more content that informed learners on more advance features on zoom. My goal was to develop a concise and informative graphic with information to aids staff and faculty using Zoom. Using the SAM model I was able to information on what settings would be most beneficial to create content for. The security section in Zoom was one that many desired and instead of creating a video, I wanted to challenge myself and develop a graphic that contained all the information a learner would need.
I developed an adaptive lesson on the Smart Sparrow platform. Smart Sparrow is an adaptive learning technology where users are able to create adaptive lesson plans that caters to the learners needs. The aim was to create a way for students to know how to install their Amazon Workspace, a virtual desktop on their personal devices. The challenge was to get students to understand the difference between a physicals computer and a virtual computer. My lesson takes a learner on a journey where they get to learn what the components to a physical computer are, then understand the fundamental differences between a physical computer and a virtual computer. Once the have mastered this information, they are given content to install Amazon Workspace on their selected device. The Smart Sparrow platform offers a vast array of tools to personalize content for the learner. Some features require some programing knowledge to accomplish but allows for adaptive learning to take place. It has proven to be a challenging project but one that has made me a better instructional designer.
