Hello, my name is Uvaldo Sifuentes. I am a graduate from the University of California, Santa Barbara where I received a B.A. in Film and Media Studies. I currently work for San Bernardino Valley College as a Technology Support Specialist II. In this position I am responsible for providing technical support to the staff and faculty on the campus. I am also in charge of designs and installations of classroom technologies around campus. I have been working in the field of Informational Technology for 7 years now and in years working in this field I gained a passion and understanding in designing and upgrading technologies for the schools that I have worked for. I receive a great sense of accomplishment knowing that my actions provide instructors with a better teaching environment as well as give students a better learning experience. In my future I hope to be in a position where I make the final decisions on technology in a place of higher learning.
The reason I chose this program is because I feel it will provide me with the best education to reach my goal. I want to take my existing knowledge of hardware technology and supplement it with theory and conceptual knowledge on the subject of instructional technology. I want to have the tools to allow me to quantify if the technology is really making a difference. I can put the flashiest, state of the art equipment in a classroom, but is it actually making a positive impact for the students and instructors? What is the most important piece of technology that makes learning and teacher better for everyone? These are just some of the questions I want to answer.
