COVID Policy

All Hands,

Be advised that any cadet testing positive for COVID-19 will be removed from the training and a parent/guardian will be notified of their need to immediately travel to Norfolk or DC (as the case may be) to take control of their cadet’s quarantine and care (as well as covering the cost of quarantine).

We do this out of consideration of the welfare of the cadets/staff at the training, enlisted personnel who are volunteering their time, and the general public whom we will serve.

To mitigate risk, think beyond yourself and consider the following:

1. For the next few weeks, minimize engaging in group activities which will expose you to people from outside your household (ask yourself if that activity is worth the risk of missing this unique opportunity in DC as well as the impact on the rest of the crew by losing a cadet—every musician counts).

2. Utilize a COVID-19 home test kit one day prior to travel so that you know you are not COVID-19-positive before boarding a flight (exposing other passengers and flight crews and impacting your family ).

3. Most important, if you haven’t already, consider getting vaccinated and boosted……it makes a huge difference.

Lastly a reminder, as specified in sea bag list: bring instrument cover (for wind instruments) to minimize projection of droplets.

Respectfully,
