Sofia Torrez is a Mentorship Director for First-Generation Legal Professionals. She received an undergraduate degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Social Inequality and a minor in Latin American Studies from the University of California, San Diego. While an undergraduate student, Sofia served as a JusticeCorps volunteer with the Legal Aid Society of San Diego, where she worked with victims of domestic violence seeking restraining orders. Prior to law school, she worked in Human Resources at a corporate business office. Sofia has previously interned for Bet Tzedek Legal Services, the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office, and has experience with employment and civil defense firms. Sofia is currently interested in pursuing a career in employment law and civil litigation. She also serves on the boards of La Raza Law Students and Employment and Labor Law Society. In her free time, Sofia enjoys swimming, attending baseball games, watching movies with her family, road trips to national and state parks, and hanging out with her dog Achilles.
