Maria Miramontes

Maria is the First Generation Legal Professionals' Secretary-Treasurer. She is proud to have the opportunity to serve as a board member this year. Her decision to go to law school was not always an easy one. For her, embarking on this journey while lacking the proper networks, financial support, and family support can quickly turn one's proudest moment into doubt, uncertainty, and anxiety. As the child of a single working-class parent, she worked hard to break her family's cycle of poverty and illiteracy. Now, as a first-generation law student, she is honored to have the opportunity to help other students navigate the complex and daunting, yet rewarding journey of a legal career. FGLP is a crucial social support group for her, and she looks forward to providing this same comfort to FGLP's incoming and existing legal professionals.
