Untold Stories is dedicated to exploring the power of story for social change.
Our founder, Sherri Schultz, also manages Words with Grace, a location-independent business providing editorial services to select nonprofit organizations, book publishers, individuals, and companies. She founded and co-hosts the monthly Springfield/Eugene-area Editors (SEE) lunch hour and is a proud 1986 alumna of the University of Oregon's Robert D. Clark Honors College, from which she earned a bachelor's degree in political science, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa.
In 1997 Sherri founded the Northwest Editors Guild (edsguild.org), a professional network that today has more than 350 members. Based in Seattle, the Guild is a 501(c)6 nonprofit organization whose mission is to build community among Northwest editors, provide resources for their career development, and connect them with clients. It hosts bimonthly Seattle forums on editorial topics, facilitates informal social hours for editors in the Seattle and Portland areas, and presents the biennial Red Pencil conference, which gathers 250 editors from around the country for a day of connection, education, and inspiration.
From 2011 to 2014, Sherri helped revive the Woman's Century Club of Seattle, founded in 1891 by prominent suffragist Carrie Chapman Catt, a protege of Susan B. Anthony who went on to lead the National Woman's Party and found the League of Women Voters. Historic Seattle honored Sherri with its 2012 Community Connector award for her work.
In spring 2018 Sherri donated 200+ hours of editing and writing time to The Young Leader's Guide to Internships, Scholarships, and Fellowships in Washington, D.C., and Beyond, the principal book being promoted by Untold Stories Cascadia in 2019-20.
