Editorial Freelancers Association
ACES: The Society for Editing
- Hosts a twice-monthly #ACESchat on Twitter, 1pm PST on the first and third Wednesday of the month … “a great opportunity to network with editors from all over and to gain new Twitter followers.”
- An Oregonian member of both ACES and the Northwest Editors Guild reports: "I haven't been to the ACES conference, but I've heard glowing reviews from colleagues. ACES offers many more online workshops than the Northwest Editors Guild; [they are] a larger organization. They also recently purchased materials from Copyediting.com, which they should be making available to members in the future.
- “I also enjoy their Tracking Changes newsletter, which allows me to stay informed about many editing topics without spending so much time tracking down the information. They have a job board too, with several remote positions listed.
- "The biggest benefit for me, though, is being listed in their Editors for Hire directory. I've only been a member [for five months] and have already had two people approach me after seeing my listing (one of whom has become a steady client)."
- Membership is $75/year ($40 for students)
- About 1,800 members; based in Indianapolis
- Next conference: March 28-30, 2019, Providence, RI
