University of Samara
Faculty of Historical Systems
The Program in White Studies is established to examine historically contingent frameworks that have functioned as normative or neutral within modern institutional contexts.
The Program shall:
Conduct historical and institutional analysis of such frameworks.
Emphasize structural function over moral evaluation.
Situate analysis within documented administrative, legal, and educational contexts.
The Program shall not:
Issue policy recommendations.
Engage in public advocacy on behalf of identified groups.
Position itself as corrective or reparative.
Instruction and research within the Program shall adhere to the following principles:
Analytic distance shall be maintained at all times.
First-person testimony shall not substitute for structural analysis.
Claims of universality shall be historically specified or withheld.
The limits of explanatory frameworks shall be acknowledged explicitly.
Program materials shall avoid prescriptive or exhortative language. Descriptive and diagnostic registers are to be preferred. Where contemporary examples are employed, they shall function as analytic anchors rather than moral illustrations.
The Program shall be subject to periodic review to ensure compliance with its diagnostic mandate and to prevent scope expansion beyond its charter.
Ratified by the Faculty Council.
