Re: Notification of Program Establishment — White Studies
Dear Colleagues,
The University of Samara writes to inform you of the establishment of a Program in White Studies within the Faculty of Historical Systems, commencing in the forthcoming academic year.
The program has been developed in response to internal review findings identifying the recurrent use of unexamined conceptual frameworks—particularly those related to neutrality, universality, and evaluative authority—across multiple disciplines. Rather than dispersing these questions across existing curricula, the University has elected to consolidate analytic responsibility within a single, methodologically constrained program.
White Studies is designed as a historical and institutional field of inquiry. Its scope is diagnostic rather than prescriptive. The program does not engage in advocacy, remediation, or policy formulation. Its function is to provide students with tools to analyze how certain frameworks have operated as background conditions within modern institutions, including universities.
The establishment of the program aligns with the University’s commitment to methodological clarity, curricular coherence, and transparency in self-description. It is expected to reduce redundancy, improve cross-program articulation, and strengthen the University’s capacity to respond to evaluative review.
We trust this clarification will be sufficient for your records. Further documentation may be provided upon request.
Respectfully,
Office of External Affairs
