Spaceflight exposes microorganisms to unusual environmental conditions, including microgravity, radiation, confinement, and altered nutrient availability. These conditions can influence microbial growth, physiology, virulence, and interactions with other organisms.
Our laboratory investigates microbial behavior and microbial interactions under microgravity and space-associated conditions. We are particularly interested in understanding how microorganisms adapt to these environments and exploring whether beneficial or predatory microorganisms could serve as biological tools for controlling pathogens during future space exploration.
