TRANSLANGUAGING
As described by Garcia et al. (2017), Translanguaging is a process where bi/multilingual learners (B/MLLs) utilize their full linguistic repertoire to make meaning, communicate, and learn. This approach transcends language boundaries by recognizing and leveraging the fluid and flexible ways students navigate languages. It encourages flexibility and "togetherness" (juntos) between teachers and students who navigate the "corriente" (current) of the classroom as co-learners (Garcia et al, 2017; Li, 2023)
It affirms learners by validating their cultural and linguistic identities. (Delgado Lopera, 2020)
It promotes an inclusive educational environment where all languages are valued and used strategically to enhance understanding and performance socially, linguistically, and academically. (Garcia and Otheguy, 2021)
Adopting a translanguaging stance is considered an act of social justice
