Unit 0: Orientation & Introduction to Information Systems

This unit included multiple assignments that worked to set up the resources needed for this course and understand what the professor expects.

What Did We Complete?

• Set up a physical notebook to write definitions for key terms of each unit

• Wrote observations of helpful ways that brightspace interacts with its users.

• Completed 2 Simnet activities introducing us to the program as well as features of Outlook.

• Professional email assignment in which we created a signature and a rule in Outlook to demonstrate our knowledge and discussed what we learned in a forum

What Did I Learn?

• Brightspace has things like check marks appearing when a module is done to communicate with the user

• Outlook allows you to have an automated signature at the end of every message

• Outlook has many time saving features such as "rules" which basically creates shortcuts

• Waffle is used to describe a 3x3 grid and a hamburger is used to describe the 3 stacked lines that show a menu.

Reflection: 

Unit 0 introduced me to many of the key components of this class including SIMpath, Outlook, and BrightSpace. I now feel a lot more comfortable using each of these platforms and have a good idea of the layout of this course.
