What does Commencement/graduation mean to you?

This is a huge accomplishment for me. I am the second in my family to graduate with a B.A. but the first to in the family to reach their dream and become a Bilingual Teacher. 

Did you have to overcome any difficult challenges during your education to make it to graduation? If so, what were they?

There were many obstacles that did prevent me from obtaining my degree, but the one challenged that pushed me to perservere was when my husband passed away. Being a single mom to two young children made me make the decision to follow my dream and become a teacher. It hasn't been easy, working full time, taking care of my household and doing full time school was a bit hectic. I still can not believe that I am graduating this June 2023. Through a pandemic we still push through and we accomplish what we started years ago!! 

What has your experience at NLU been like?

National Louis University gave me the opportunity to learn and fulfilled my dream. The professors were all professional and taught well. 

What are your plans for the future?

I am planning to stay in my previous work place where I was a Kindergarten assistant and will come back in the fall as a Bilingual Teacher.
