What does Commencement/graduation mean to you?

Commencement means to me that I rock! It has been a long road and the journey has been challenging. I have had some great moment and some very trying moments. But, with the support of my family, I persevered and completed the journey. That means everything to me at this very moment. 

Did you have to overcome any difficult challenges during your education to make it to graduation? If so, what were they?

Yes! In my personal world there were many health challenges and death. I felt at times like I could not breathe. But, I have the best Professors. Oh my gosh; without them and a lot of prayer, I probably would not have finished my journey. 

What has your experience at NLU been like?

NLU has been great. I was very reluctant to start an online program but in the mist of a pandemic it was the best option. I am so grateful that you chose NLU. Ariana Hernandez, my student success advisor and Jamesetta Tambah, my field placement specialist have been incredible. They have been so patient and caring, I know that I got in their nerves a time or two but they never let on. Lol! Thanks NLU, everyone has been awesome! 

What are your plans for the future?

I’m headed back to Kindergarten! I will be teaching in a K-2nd grade autism program and I am very excited for this new journey.
