What is SLACK-OA?
SLACK-OA stands for Sub-Lingual Administration of Cannabidiol for Knee Osteoarthritis. The purpose of our research is to investigate the effects of taking a drug supplement (cannadidiol or CBD) for reducing pain and improving function in people with painful knee osteoarthritis. Our study will compare the effects of taking the CBD supplement versus a placebo.
Strategic Aim 1: We aim to determine the safety and efficacy of a controlled short-term trial using CBD treatment for symptomatic relief and improved function in individuals with knee osteoarthritis.

between the ages of 40 and 75
moderate to severe knee pain (≥4/10) with physical activity in one or both knees
willing and able to stop taking prescription medications (e.g., opioids) or OTC pain medications (e.g., NSAIDs or Tylenol) for knee pain prior to scheduled participation
