Code of Conduct

The Slepian group is committed to creating a work environment that is safe, professional, and based in mutual trust, where all perspectives are valued, and where everyone is treated with courtesy and respect. It is through a broad, diverse set of skills, personalities and experiences that our community experiences great successes and continued growth.

• We pledge to treat all people with respect and provide a harassment- and bullying-free environment, regardless of sex, sexual orientation and/or gender identity, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, nationality, ethnicity, religion, and political views. Any exclusionary language or statements will not be tolerated.

• We pledge to provide respectful criticisms and feedback in the group. We pledge to model behaviors that encourage productive discussion for better scientific outcomes, even when there is disagreement.

• We pledge to welcome questions and answer them respectfully, paying particular attention to engaging those new to an area of research or to a conversation.

• We pledge to help the group follow the code of conduct and not to remain silent when we see violations of the code of conduct.

• We pledge to respect each other’s privacy and each person's right to control their own intellectual property. If we wish to share photos, group discussions, notes, or paper drafts of a group member, we will always get their permission first.
