For those students that are more into insects and animals from different species, we have what you want too! The Florida Museum is the largest natural history museum in the Southeast and one of the top five in the US in terms of collection size, housing more than 40 million specimens and objects!
There are various outdoor spaces to explore at the Florida Museum in addition to eight permanent exhibitions, including the Butterfly Rainforest. Hundreds of free-flying butterflies, birds, and other species from all over the world, including turtles and fish, are on display in the Butterfly Rainforest, a must-see live exhibit.
The mission of the Florida Museum is to inspire people to care about the environment and to work toward creating a world where everyone can benefit from nature and culture. It’s like having National Geographic in your backyard, right at your fingertips!
The Florida Museum of Natural History is dedicated to provide a welcoming and easily accessible experience to everyone. Wheelchair accessibility is provided for all museum exhibits. Prior to an event or visit, people with disabilities should call the Florida Museum at 352-846-2000 (TDD 711), at least 10 working days in advance.
